Great course one of my groups favorites. We do not play it a lot because it is expensive but we do love the course. If you are in the area it is one that is highly recommended. It might be the best course in the Raleigh area, public or private. Certainly in the top 5. There are no weaknesses outside of the cost.

Devils Ridge GC

Being from Canada it's a real treat to come down in the winter and play an outstanding course like Devil's Ridge.
Over all the course is very scenic with most of the holes providing a fair test of golf.
The Club House personal are what you'd expect in the south!
The time that I usually play is Boxing day - the day after Christmas - and the course condition is well maintained but the lushness is missing, but you can notice the obvious maintenance care that has been taken throughout the whole course.
Many of the holes are memorable with a few that standout.
The seventh hole,at 403 yds from the blues, I keep saying I'll get the best of but somehow I always seem to bogie but what a nice challenge, not long mind you but you've got to think. The little par three 8th is, I find very difficult to hold on the green but it's well laid out and suits a Kodak moment.
The 9th is the #1 0ne handicap and so it should be at 539 yds from the blues and real fun to play. The tee shot needs to be placed just right to avoid a sever left drop off.
So you better be favouring right centre just avoiding the trap lurking on the right at the apex setting up your second shot to a long sweeping left hander down a narrowing
fairway with a steep fall off to the left to a raised green.WHEW! Know wonder it’s the #1 handicap hole.
The one hole that I like best is the #10 the risk and reward on this hole makes it worth the trip. The tee looks out to a disappearing fairway, into who knows how steep a gorge with a wall of pines at 90 degrees and then to reappear in the distance as a dogleg right to a crest of a hill, spotted on the right with very tall pines with a sever fairway falloff left, opening up around the corner to an elevated green, with a huge dip in front of a protecting substantial bunker in front.Wow!
There's also a very nice par # 3-the 12th at 178 yds. which is also a great design, and a good challenge but not unfair. Finishing off the back 9 with the #18 par five makes you realize how the name of the course was arrived at, but at the same time feel that it was worth the time to visit one of the most scenic and enjoyable layouts that I've played
in the area.
What a great course!

Customer Service

The service at the front counter bent over backwards to arrange a game with a couple of locals. which made the day very enjoyable.
