This is a great place to play. If you go to Pinehurst, there are many great courses but be sure to include a Ross course and this is a fine example!

Just getting around to writing this review... wow, what a golf course. Some of the prettiest holes you will ever see anywhere. If you are a Donald Ross enthusiast, you've got to play here. I liked it even better than Pine Needles across the street, although this is just a matter of personal preference... Pine Needles was great too.

Mid Pines should be on you must play list for Pinehurst. Check out reduced green fees for afternoon play, the finishing holes are absolutely awesome in the twilight hours.

Customer Service

Excellent. Staff couldn't be nicer if they tried.

Shoots in the 80s

Top notch facility all the way around. Play never slowed down, fairways were forgiving, greens were slick and some were turtle back. Every trap in top condition. Pine needles instead of heavy rough or brush make it easy to find errant shots. Meals were fabulous buffet style, except dinner which offered great selections (for meat eaters!!) Be sure to check out the Sunday Brunch buffet if you are there on a Sunday!! Accomadations were dated but comfortable, but who was there to sleep!!??

Customer Service

Great Service, whisked our clubs between Pine Needles and Mid-Pines and were always ready on the cart for the morning round!!

Shoot in the 80s

Absolutely the best conditioned course I have ever seen or played. The grass was nicer than my carpet at home. It was deep green both times I've played it. Once was in the fall while the grass at most courses is still dormant. My hats off to the grounds crew and superintendent. The course is typical Ross. Plenty of room off the tee, but you had better watch those greens. Some are very reminiscent of Pinehurst #2. Looks very easy, but plays a lot tougher. Play it if you get a chance, especially if a company is picking up the tab.

Customer Service

Staff is top notch to go along with a top notch facility.

Stayed in the villas on a business trip. The're located on the 10th Fairway, and are very nice. Putting green is nice, and has some tough practice holes on it. Really gets you ready for the Ross greens. Range is okay, but if hitting from very back you can't see where the ball lands. Maybe that is what the renovation is for.

blueTees, 6515 yds...71.3/127 slope. we played endOfJune, offSeason, Thursday afternoon. damage was $59 (rather than the usual $85...don't know if it was after 1400 or what).

MidPines opened in 1921, and it is still a challenging, and excellent course. Many of the holes have PineTree areas framing a reasonably-sized rough outside the fairway. These PineTrees have nice, PineNeedle beds which do a great job grabbing errant balls. On those times when one gets away from you, the pineNeedles will catch the ball, and it is easy to find...you'll rarely have much of a shot from there, but you can immediately see your ball, and get it back in play.

We'll consider playing this course every time we go to Pinehurst.
