Shoots in the 70s

Played on June12, 2008, having last played Oyster Bay in 1998. Was excited to be booked again on this course as it has a tremendous amount of character and will test every club in your bag. The design, though built in 1983, still holds up well today.

The day we played was excessively hot after a week of hot! Index was around 114 degrees and humid.

The greens had very obviously been suffering and were in poor shape. The were burnt in many spots, and were being allowed to grow thick to recover. I'd guess the putting speed on the stimp to be about 7 at it's fastest. It made for a really poor day on the greens.

The rest of the course was just as beautiful as before, and was a joy to behold. Especially since we teed off at 10am and practically had the course to ourselves.

The nesting Osprey on the 9th hole really made the day.

Again, the greens detracted greatly from the experience, but we tried to overlook that considering the rest of the facility was fine.

The rating would be higher if the greens had been better.

Customer Service

Service was great, marshalls continued around with cold water and towels to keep us from frying on such a hot day. Pro shop was good, and the starter was pleasant and informative.

Shoots in the 80s

Organized a trip to Myrtle Beach with a group of 8.Since we had to travel North to get to Oyster Bay we arranged for a morning and afternoon round, and we're glad we did. The course was in beautiful sahpe, even with the hot and dry weather they have had over the summer. Every hole seemed to be a new experience. Greens were in fantastic shape. The course is one of the older in the MB area, but has a ton of character. The wild life is interesting also. Everyone couldn't wait to get to the afternoon round to have at it again. We all recommend it highly, and our next trip will include Oyster Bay again.

Customer Service

Service was fantastic. They have it down to just enough. There aren't alot of people, which is interesting on how they do such a great job.

What a great little course. I do mean little too. As many of these beach course it is a tad shorter that other courses, but none the less challenging. If you are down this way, please treat yourself to a round here.

Shoot in the 80s

If you are going to Myrtle Beach this is a must play course. There is nothing you can say bad about it. It has long holes, and short holes. It makes you think and it is beautiful. The conditions are always top notch. The Island par three, while short, always makes your knees a little shaky. The course is not terribly long but it is awfully fun.
