Shoots in the 80s

Now a public course known as The Links at Groveport, this pleasant parkland layout offers straightforward golf in a quaint small-town setting. With only a handful of fairway bunkers, mature trees are the primary driving hazard. And while the tree-lined fairways are not uncomfortably narrow, keeping the ball in the short grass is critical to setting up unobstructed iron shots to the small greens. The older front nine plays across gently rolling terrain and features very small greens – a few are absolutely tiny. The newer back nine is on flatter property with somewhat larger greens. Water is obviously a factor on some holes with a few large ponds and the stream that bisects the course, but it sneaks into play on other holes with small drainage ponds and narrow ditches lurking near the fairways. Turf conditions were average with a few bare spots and slow-draining areas. Greens had just been aerated (mid-September). A bouncy suspension bridge provides a fun way to cross the stream during the front nine.
