I've played these 2 golf courses a million times so I know them well. They're both very playable because you can pull out driver on every hole and rip it because it's mainly wide open. The front side on the South and the back on the North are the easier nines with the back on the South being by far the most difficult. You'd better be a good wind player because there's nothing to stop it out there and the course is pretty flat. Probably a 3 stroke difference for every tee box you move up so if you think it's easy just step on back to the tips.

Very good...

Excellent practice facility except driving range is always downwind which is a no-no...you always want to practice into the wind to determine ball flight.

This is another 36 hole facality in the City.(North & South) Played the white tees on the South, for a league. Was very disappointed. It seems that the course overseeds with Bermuda and Rye. This might make for good conditions in the Winter, but in mid May...the grass would not even hold the ball up in the fairway. Par 5 and you cannot even get a wood on the ball because of the grass. Greens were very disappointing. Where not true to the eye and very slow. The south layout is fun with several well thought holes. The north is a little easier layout, but is more difficult because of the Oklahoma wind off the lake.

Customer Service

The starter seemed a little abrupt almost like he was being burdened for checking someone in...

Two totally different courses. Hefer North Course was redone in the 90's, so if you've played Earlywine North or Silverhorn (same architect) you know what kind of course it is. Hefner South is as fine a course as there is in Oklahoma City. Nice tree lined fairways. I believe Hefner's courses are the only ones to overseed their fairways in the winter. So if you want to play on green in the winter, head to Hefner. If you don't like playing in gail force winds, you might want to go somewhere else. The North is worse than the South as far as the wind. During the winter and spring, the winds coming off Lake Hefner can be especially brutal and bone chilling. Overall though, these two courses are tough to beat and would definitely recommend them to anybody these courses are tough to beat in OKC.

Shoot in the 80s

Both courses kept in great shape, especially for the amount of Play. I enjoy the South course more. More undulations in the greens and more trees also. The par 5 14th can extremely difficult with a south wind.
I Still can't figure out how the North got its slope rating. You can play from other fairways, Not too difficult unless the wind is strong. Excellent Range and practice facilities. You can spend all day and just work on all aspects of your game. They need o let the rough grow on both courses to penalize missed fairways. Try to put too many people out on the course. always a 5 hour round, possibly 6 on weekends.
