Model Reviewed: Firelake Golf Course

I have played this course since it was opened in the 80's. Have seen it when it was outstanding and at its worst. They have had trouble with the greens since day one, and at this writing there are better but have a long ways to go. Seems like play has fallen off and the Tribe does not want to put the funding into the course to make it like it was years ago. Lots of water, short but tought layout.

Customer Service

Customer service has alway been good, and even better since Chris has taken over. Needs more product in the pro shop.

Water, water, and more water...bring your ball retreiver and extra balls! Fun course that can be mastered but not easily.

Customer Service

Great customer service, the new pro is friendly and others working there are great as well, the big guy that moves the cart is always friendly and willing to help or go the extra mile!

Played my first round of golf ever at Firelake and even tho have moved from Shawnee, have gone back and played there numerous times. The greens there are very undulating so if you can't read greens you're in for a high round. The water forces you to keep it in the fairway.

Customer Service

Friendly and helpful

I play here 10 times per year probably. They have always had problems with their greens BUT they are looking better this year. Only green that didnt look healthy was #9. They have a new greenskeeper and it looks like he is making improvements. The guys that work there are all real nice. Not a snob in the house. Snack bar girl is cute and friendly. Proshop is down but that is expected in Winter. With the $20 Winter special they have during the week it is well worth the price for admission.

I've played this course about 5 times a year for 5-6 years so I know it well. I don't know what's going on, but the proshop is going way down hill. There was nothing in there including the snackbar. As far as the golf course, I played a day after it had only a little rain and the fairways were under water. It's not a long course but it was very slopy which made it long. The greens have done a lot of healing compaired to last year. They are slow but putt and hold very well. pace of play was slow and I saw a couple of 6 man groups and that's a big turn off to me.

Customer Service

Friendly when I actually got the service. Saturday morning and I only saw one person working the whole course.

Played on a Sunday and the pace of play was pretty good considering it was packed. A few greens need some healing but overall the course looked as good as I have seen it in a few years. I usually play it 3 times a year. Man at the counter said they had a new pro and superintendant and it looks like they are making improvements. Fun course to play and not real expensive.

Customer Service

Guy at the counter was very friendly and acted like "one of the guys". BEWARE of the older lady at the snack bar. She has an attitude !! She acted mad because she had to get up and wait on us. Firelake do yourself a favor and replace her with someone that actually smiles !!!

A good test of golf with quite a few memorable holes #4,#5 and #17 especially(It will bite you if your not careful) to name a few. Not the best manicured and the greens were slow but overall a very fun course to play. It wasn't congested and the staff was friendly. This is the kind of course we need in the city. A great challenge with varying degrees of difficulties on the holes and a fair price. Like I said, I've seen better maintained courses but I would put some of the holes on this course up against any public course holes in the city. I enjoyed playing this course even though a few holes took their toll on me.

Customer Service

Young man at the counter was nice and the place had a nice casual feel you don't get at most snuffy courses here in the city. Hey, it's golf not a tea party if anyones listening. Since when did working behind a counter make you a God!

Course was in good shape but they just hired a new greenskeeper so it should only get better. #12 green needs work because it was vandalized so hopefully they can get it turned around. Well worth the money for Oklahoma.

Customer Service

Young man at counter was very friendly and helpful.

Course has really gone downhill over the past 10 years or so. Still, it's a beautiful layout with lots of memorable holes and quite a challenge. Bring at least a dozen balls, though, as the term "fire lake" has meaning. The tongues of this manmade fire-shaped lake come into play on several holes, especially #5 and #17. Overall the layout is tough but fair, although the greens have really suffered from a few years of being overplayed and undertended. The reason to keep coming back? It's a very memorable layout, with several very interesting holes. Well designed. Needs to take a year off for some intensive therapy, however.

Customer Service

Not bad; not intrusive, but not reclusive.

Nice putting green, oddly enough; driving range not bad either.
