Shoots in the 70s

I played the front nine a few days ago. The course is tight off the tee -- you must hit the fairway to have a look at the green. For the most part, the course is a reasonable challenge. There were three greens on this nine, though, that were so sharply-sloped that the landing area was much too small. One player in our group hit his approach five feet in front of the pin and the ball rolled back off the front of the green. There is a fourth green that is so pitched that the only word that can describe it is stupid. And that's all just on the front nine. If you want to have fun, a green that will accept a good shot is what you're looking for. These greens don't. You can skip this course.

Nicely laid out with good fairways but the greens are a joke. Much too fast and pin locations would be difficult for a pro. Greens really unfairly punish the average golfer.

Customer Service

Nice and friendly but I don't like the additional charge for the cart. Charge a little more for green fees and drop the cart charge. If your a walker drop the green fees.

Shoots in the 90s

This is a good course when it is green. The course is usually in nice shape from April to June. However, the very poor watering system does not keep the course green in the summer and fall (July-October). As of July 2003, the course is brown and dead in most of the ruff areas and also parts of the fairways. Thus, hitting any shot in the ruff is the equivalent of hitting onto concrete with horrible bounces that can go OB. It almost plays like a links course it is so dry, yet it is a parkland design. Until the irrigation system is changed, stay away from this course during the dry summer and fall months.

Shoots in the 100s

I played the course twice, once a few years back and again last week. They have upgraded the course significantly since the last time I've been there. I don't remember the greens being as well kept as they are now, they are fast, firm and challenging. I had a few 3 putts. Plenty of water and sand bunkers surround the holes. The course itself played long. The staff was friendly, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of golf you get. Definitely worth the trip down south if your from Portland, Metro. Overall thumbs up for the course, hopefully I will play better next time I come down.

The fast sliding greens , the wonderful curtious service, and the beautiful environmental location makes this golf course the best in most opion in the pac northwest.

Customer Service

The costumer service is amazing. They have enough staff to the lines moving yet are not over staffed. The cart boys, waitresses and even the pro shop members are knowledgable and care about golf. They are polite and friendly. Not to mention have a few laughs.

Shoot in the 90s

Emerald Valley is by far one of the best golf courses in Oregon, if not the Pacific Northwest. Long and challenging, the greens are usually hard and fast (a rarity in Oregon) and maintained very well. The views from the golf course are absolutely stunning, and the Willamette River flows nearly right through it. The staff are excellent, and friendly almost to a fault. The value of the course is excellent, and their practice facilities include a practice bunker, 2 putting greens, a chipping green, and driving range. Truly one of the best kept secrets in Oregon.
