Superior links style course. Rees Jones design. He did the Cog Hill redesign. Weather can be anything. Half the fun. Rain, wind, 80 degrees, etc. Sand dunes, deep pot bunkers, water, etc. I drive over from central Oregon a couple of times a year just to play there. Clubhouse is great. Have lunch out on the terrace afterwards. Breathtaking! Golf course for the rest of your life!

THIS IS A GREAT COURSE! Rees Jones designed. He redesigned the PGA at Cog Hill. A links style course. Fabulous in every way. I come over 3 times a year from central Oregon just to play it. Spectacular views from the deck at the clubhouse. Have lunch, a really great experience. Weather, every condition imagineable. Played when it was 84 deg and calm, next day 62 degrees and rain, next day, 65 degees and 25 mph winds. How great is that! Great design, they start you out on two fairly easily par 4's so that you can get warmed up. Course is kind of wierd, 1st 9 goes all around the perimeter, 2nd 9 inside the 1st 9. Way it is set-up, you never really realize that? But, you never really see the 1st 9, because of mounds, sand dunes, etc. A course to play the rest of your life on.

I have reviewed this course before and feel some update is needed.

There is a new clubhouse and restaurant. There are plans to build many new homes on the course. (So, play before this course loses it's beautiful open looks.)

This course is a true championship level course with great diversity and wonderful conditions. It is at the same level as many of the best courses anywhere.

Unfortunately, prices have gone up. $75 for winter rate and $120 for summer. (With the building of the new clubhouse.)

Customer Service

Very good

Model Reviewed: Sandpines Golf Links

This was a nice course but I caution anyone who plans to play in July or Aug to play early in the day to avoid the wind. My wife and I teed off at 2PM to take advantage of the twilight rates and that was a HUGE mistake. For the first time ever for either of us, we quit after 9 holes because we couldn't take it anymore. The wind was blowing so hard that our balls were blown around on the greens and it was very difficult to take a solid stance before hitting a shot. I've played at Kapalua, Maui before in approx 30 mph winds (normal tradewinds for that area) and they paled in comparison to the winds we encountered at Sandpines.
According to the golf shop staff, the winds weren't even that unusual. We were told later that they start about noon or so in July & Aug and continually pick up during the afternoon until they're howling later in the day.
My bottom line: very nice course, but don't play it in the afternoon unless you happen to like playing in 40+ mph winds.

Customer Service

Good. After we quit after 9 holes they offered to have us come back the next day and play another 9 earlier in the day to avoid the wind. Our travel schedule didn't allow for that - but that was nice of them

Played this beauty a couple of Falls ago on a great October day and vowed to review it every chance I had to do so!

Customer Service

Very good, we contacted on short notice with a special accomodation (a ride along Cairn Terrier) and these folks went out of their way to get us satisfied. I think the price is a bargin. For a resort type course, this was a friendly place.

One of the best oceanfront golf courses around. Great layout. Good complexity. Keeps you thinking. Not too hard not too easy. Very nice fairways. Beautiful course.

I travel some in my business and always take the opportunity to play local courses I can. San Diego (Torrey Pines), Vegas, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Orlando. This course blows away anything I have played thus far. Course was in great shape in September although the fog rolled in and we had to check the course map to get a direction to the general vicinity of the flag (wild!).

Fantastic Course! Great layout, challenging holes, and a great value. It's a must play. Watch out for the weather on the coast - the wind can really pick up (it's still fun, just really challenging).
