Shoots in the 80s

90% of the fairways are straight-away, but often you can't tell what is fairway and what is rough when your close to the green. There is alot of ground under repair in very inconvieniant places like the fringe, and sometimes even one side of the green like the first hole on the west side. I played this course about 2 times a week in the summer and found that most of the pro-shop staff are snobby, and short with customers. Most of the staff is gathered around the pro-shop television when you walk in, while the younger staff members hang out behind the 18th hole of the west side waiting for finishers to putt so they can yell form behind the golf cart shack on your backswing. When confronting pro shop staff about this occurance, the counter person laughed and said, "Oh, those kids." They are also quick to assume that your trying to rip the place off. The course is never marshalled any time I've been there, and you'll see people cutting back through the course to play more golf than they payed for. This causes backups during the summer and fall evenings as people get off work, so bring a cell phone to report these people when it's happening. I also found several times that the starter marshalls on the first tee rarely want to be bothered with they're responsibility, and are short with those looking to get underway that might have questions, or need to pair up. For example, I walked over to the east #1 to see how the flow was moving. The starter asked me to join another group without asking if I was even planning to golf that side. I replied that I was just looking to see how busy this side was when he said, "Well just go over there then..." Referring to the west side. I considered taking lessons there because it's close to where I live, but after seeing the instructors on the range hooking and slicing terribly over the nets, and even onto the jogging paths along the range I decided to do a little more research on teachers. For anyone that shoots 70's to 80's the west side is too easy, and a waste of time. The first nine is mostly 250 to 280 yard par 4's, which are easily drivable with wide fairways and an occasional sand trap. The par 5's on both courses are killjoy's because they are all, except two, severely uphill, and good drives usually slam into fairway hillsides, leaving awkward and long 2nd shots.

Customer Service

Except for the Ringside resteraunt, it was just terrible all the way around. In the year that I have golfed Glendoveer, I can't speak of one good experience in that aspect.

The driving range is OK. It's heated during the winter. The staff is a little friendlier because they want you to take lessons from them, but I would suggest to anybody to wait a few minutes to watch

Shoots in the 90s

Good basic golf although this course has nothing really outstanding about it. It can be very crowded and slow in the summer but other times of the year strangely are not.Glendoveer is really two courses but little distinguishes either one.

Customer Service

Friendly staff, but the course (like other Portland munis) could use better marshalling.
