Shoots in the 80s

2009
I have been playing Paxon since the 1970's. It is still one of my favorite courses. The holes are so diversified and are challenging. I like every single hole on the course, even though some are pretty tough.
The 9th hole is a real challenge since you are hitting your tee shot to a very narrow fairway on the right. If you hit it straight or left you go down a steep hill to rough. The approach shot is to a small green with trouble everywhere.
The 17th is fun...100 yard shot, straight down.
The 18th is it's sigature hole. Longggg oar 5 with a tight fairway. 2nd shot is uphill to a very tight fairway with trouble on both sides. Spproach is uphill to a two tiered green.
Course is always in great condition. Marshalls patrol frequently.
Although I belong to a private CC, I still play here when I can.

Customer Service

Very good in 2009. Friendly and accomodating.

Shoot in the 90s

This is an OUTSTANDING golf course. This is the finest public course I have ever played. The greens are well kept. When I played in February and March, they were still actually green. When I played in June and July, they were pretty darn fast, but still well kept. You'll have to work for some of your two putts here. Several greens are elevated, and if you miss long or to one side, good luck getting up and down, even with a lob wedge. I have a pretty solid short game, and this course always gives me a run for my money in that department. Bunkers are well placed, although they are all around the greens. That's no problem, because the course is beautifully layed out. You'll have plenty of challenges, like trying to figure out how to wind your way around the hill on 3 (don't even THINK of trying to go over it), or whether to try to bomb it over the creek on 18, (not unless you feel REALLY lucky). Several holes etch themselves in your memory after the first time or two you play, such as the aforementioned #3, the 115 yard 17th, which drops straight off a cliff (nearly everyone can play this with a 9 iron or a PW), and the breathtaking 535 yard 18th. I LOVE the 18th hole. It is beautiful, it is long, and it is tough. A creek runs right in front of the tee box, runs down the left side of the fairway for about 240 yards, then crosses the fairway (as the hole turns slightly back to the left) and runs down the right hand side. Most everybody lays up the creek on the first shot, leaving you with a second shot where you see a) a huge hill guarding the left side of the fairway, b) the creek on the right, c) a fairway which falls away from left to right, feeding back towards the creek, and d) a two-tiered green beckoning you from 300 yards away. An outstanding golf hole to finish off a round at this remarkable course.
