Open links style course. Large greens, large fairways but still plenty to challenge players of most any level.

Customer Service

Never had trouble with the customer service.

Agree with the comments on customer service. Called 3 days in advance to cancel my 4-some tee time and requested slot for single. Was given 6:48am and suggested a I call day before to check for later time. When I called today, Sandy told me that they do not book singles and told that she would hang up on me if I could not speak to her constructively (which I naturally believe I was). Quite rude.

Customer Service

Sandy does not seem to understand basic customer service. I was trying to make plans to spend money at her course and she offended me.

Living most of my adult life in Va.I have played most of my golf south of the Mason-Dixon. Ocassionally I venture north in the fall in hopes of finding a quality golf experience. Despite some rainy weather, I hit the mark with a round at Turtle Creek on Black Friday. A rainy Thanksgiving Day had me expecting a soggy course with bumpy greens. What I found was a course that was not only playable but in great shape. The greens were smooth, quick and consistent. The layout is fair but challenging with an interesting mixture of long and short holes that require you to hit every club in the bag. The absence of houses and a layout that features plenty of scenic holes with enough water to get your attention made this a great expereince.
I highly recommend this course and look forward to playing it again.

Customer Service

I had the opportunity to spend some time with Sandy and Barbara Waltz owners of Turtle Creek after my round and they were outstanding hosts that made this out of towner feel very welcome. I try to spend money where my patronage is appreciated, that is definitely the case at Turtle Creek. I would encourage the local golfers and those travelers who are in the area to make time to play this track as well as support this family business, you will not be disappointed.

Great course layout for a weekend golfer. Tips are a little short for a single digit player. some very challenging holes. nothing too tricky or gimmicky. Number 11 is one of the best par 3's around. #8 is also a great hole.

Customer Service

i have lived in the area and played here numerous times due to central location for myself and friends.

The lady (who i believe is the owner) who typically runs the front desk is beyond rude and ungrateful for the business we provide to the course. Never thanks us for coming or anything. Acts as if she is doing us a favor.

list of her best moments:

1) wouldn't give a lower price on a dozen balls than the per sleeve price. was told when asked why no break "that's how they do it here". meanwhile she is an owner.

2. asked an employee if we could jump to hole #1 to finish a match we had after ending 18 in a tie and he said "yes, go ahead and play a couple more if you need to" 20 minutes later a ranger comes flying out to tell us to come in with the carts. "lady waltz" told us we'd have to pay for another 18 holes if we wanted to continue. Mind you it was 7:30 pm.

3. showed up there on a saturday in february (40 degrees out / 3 cars n parking lot) with 3 other guys. asked if we could just play a 9 hole rate and if not too cold we'd consider playig the back after. told me that they only do a 18 rate and she would not accomodate us.

First time playing this course. Typically I'll see one or two things per course that will stand out as exceptional. This was not the case with Turtle Creek, unfortunately. The course was not packed, yet we were started on the back 9. There was no one teeing off after us, either. By the time we hit the 10th hole, there was a 2-some crowding us. The back 9 is considerably tight, as well. Then we hit the front 9 and it was much more open, you had a chance of seeing the pin from the tee box. I'd say the front 9 was nice, but we were asked to return the cart on the 4th hole, it was 8pm, and there was only 45 minutes of sun left. No refund was offered. There were still several golfers on the course as well.

Customer Service

Abysmal. I've paid less for beer at nicer places. I've never been asked to return my cart mid game. It was not like we were playing slowly. They turn the grills off at 5pm, so any food other than chips after that point, you are out of luck. I've never been treated so poorly.

I've never played a course this poor. The greens were full of divots, many holes narrow, and if you go off course the slightest bit, you are in waist high grass. Say goodbye to your ball. They will gladly sell you another sleeve for $9 though. Greens fee's were higher than elsewhere, cart rental was higher, $17 per person, food was more expensive, beer was twice what I am used to paying at nice courses.

I live locally and play this course quite a few times each year. The greens are always in great condition and the fairways are fairly plush. Most holes are wide open with a links feel. When the course first opened the fescue framing most holes was left to grow knee high. It was beautiful and made the course very challenging. Too challenging for the masses so they mowed it down. It's much easier to find your wayward drives now. Overall, I like the layout. There are some very interest holes (no bad holes) with varing degrees of difficulty. I personally would have liked to have seen them leave the fescue up, but I understand the business side of running a course. If you make it too hard for the weekend player they won't come back.

Customer Service

People are always nice and accomadating.

They need a club house to complete the experience. I've heard that it is in the works for 6 years now.

nice course thats wide open on the front and tighter on the back. High rough and mounds to make up for the lack of trouble. nice layout. a bit pricey and very crowded (weekends) Although we complained to the ranger and he did speed up play and gave us a couple of drinks on the house. Maintained very well for the amount of play. Greens are nice and moderatley fast.
