Shoots in the 80s

Established golf club which underwent a complete course renovation by Bobby Weed of Orlando. The 2 year renovation, completed in 2004, transformed White Manor into one of the premier Philadelphia area courses. It's hilly topography, contoured fairways, excellent use of natural water sources, and grand vistas make it appear that you are playing a mountain course, not a course in the flat, suburban Philadelphia horse country. The signature hole may be the par 5 17th featuring a sharp dog-leg with the approach to the green protected by a long stretch of water appointed with small boulders, but I think the most exciting shot on the course is what some mebers refer to as the "Alternative 7th Hole." This hole, of course, is a fantasy hole, but it is clear that Weed intended players to try their best to tee up on the fringe of the elevated 6th green and shoot about 240 yards across the 11th fairway, across a stream, trying to land the ball on wide portion of the 12th green. I wish I knew the true drop in elevation! It is an exhilarating shot that sll should try. Of course, you need not look for fantasy shots, the course provides challenge after challenge. Just a hint, don't even think about flirting with the dense rough and fescue!

Customer Service

There is a growing caddie program. The caddie master is active in the youth community and brings in a great crew of young people each summer to replace those that move on. The pro shop is well stocked and the pros special order equipment and gear on request. There is a formal golf academy on site as well as four top notch pros offering private lessons. There are two driving ranges, a long and short. The long is appointed with a shelter so you may practice in inclement weather. The short range is a phenomenal asset offering two greens and multiple traps. There are also two practice greens. The halfway house is well stocked, more like a luncheonette. Great service in the dining room is required by the members and the hose manager. It would be tough to have a bad experience at White Manor if you have th opportunity to play.
