Shoots in the 70s

I played for the Princeton Golf team in the 1980's so I had the "good fortune/misfortune" to play this course hundreds of times. It's not very long and there doesn't appear to be all that much trouble out there, but there are some holes that are deceptively difficult off the tee. My BIG problem with this course is the tiny greens, which are heavily sloped and undulating. First of all, this places far too heavy on emphasis on chipping, putting and sand play. On some holes, like the Par-3 second hole, you can be 25 feet from the center of the green and you're chipping!!! There are a few interesting holes here like #7 which is an excellent Par-4 and #15 which is a brilliant short Par-3, but for the most part this is a medioce course at best. The "lowlight" of Springdale is the Par-4 17th Hole which is one of the worst holes I have ever encountered at any course. Standing on the tee, you have 4 choices because of the huge trees on the right of this HARD dogleg right: 1. Hit it straight and go thru the fairway into big trouble. 2. Hit a fade or draw and still be through the fairway in trouble. 3. Hit a MASSIVE slice and hope you don't bounce too far right into the creek. 4. Lay up short of a huge slope in the fairway and hit a long iron from a wicked sidehill lie. This is a truly hideous hole and Option #3 is your only hope, and even then you have to get a little lucky.

Shoots in the 80s

Par 71, ~6300 yards. Great course to walk. rolling hills, fairly open with parallel fairways so you wont lose many balls. very little water. usually in very good condition, especially the bunkers. not tough, but not too easy. many holes are on the shorter side but the small and heavily sloped greens make birdies difficult. Have played the course one hundred times and never get tired of it.
