Shoots in the 90s

Living just minutes down the road from the Cobb's Glen Country Club, I have gotten plenty of play-time on this course and enjoy it as a sort of 'home' course for me. The prices ranges quite a bit from about $45 on weekend mornings to just under $25 in the late afternoon and evening portions of weekdays. If you're looking to save money, watch for discounted 'twilight' times during the week (after 3 pm).

As a 20 or so handicap golfer, I find the course enjoyable and not too challenging. If I was hitting 300 yd drives, putting short/mid irons on the green and was an expert with my wedges, the course probably wouldn't be too challenging but from my experiences out there, most golfers on the course are about where I am. In an effort to save space, I'll list some traits of the course I've noticed.

Pro) If you're a right-handed player who fights a slice or fade, this course will help you in places. The front-9 is soft on the right side.

Pro) The condition of the fairways and rough is very good. The fairways are certainly rewarding (and sizable), but the rough is not too 'rough.'

Pro) The greens are probably the largest in Anderson, SC. Noticeably larger than Anderson CC and Brookstone, and although the greens aren't in perfect shape, their rolling contours and large size will test you.

Con) If you're a high handicap player, you'll lose some balls on the course the first time through.

Con) Even though I'm a 20-handicap, I like a challenge and am willing to lose a ball or two in gambling. While there are water hazards located on several back-9 holes, the front-9 is completely void of it. I wish it were more evenly spread.

Con) This course has about 3 times the number of bunkers as similar courses around the area have (Brookstone/Anderson CC). Each green is framed with 2-3 bunkers along its perimeter and each hole has at least 1 (if not 3, 4 or 5) along the fairway. If you struggle in the sand, you could be in for a bad day!

Con) Finally, the driving range, tee boxes and greens could be in better shape but I'll wait until the weather changes to condemn an upstate course for that.

Con) I should also note that this course is very popular. You will see divots on the tee boxes and ball marks on the greens. Considering the amount of play it sees, this course is in really solid shape.

Customer Service

Can't really comment as all I ask of them is that they take my money and hand me a cart key.
