Shoot in the 80s

I love Secession. It's an old fashioned walking with caddies course with a load of fun, memorable holes. It's private, but if you can get on, do so!

From the first tee, which makes you carry over a marsh, to the 18th, a long par-5, this course has no weak holes.

A smallish clubhouse features a grill, and some dormer rooms.

If you love golf, you'll love Secession. Last I knew, memberships were reasonable, too.

Scratch golfer

What started as a Pete Dye-design and finished by Devlin is one of the Lowcountry's purist forms of Southern, marshland golf. Large, soft undulating greens make putting exciting. Not the longest course, but seasonal winds can challenge the best. The highlight is walking-only policy, plus caddies. Generous, flat fairways allow the golfer to instead focus on the more difficult approach shot. Don't forget the 5-foot flagsticks, makes depth perception deceiving. From tee to green, immaculate maintenance.

Customer Service

Very private, but more than 700 "national" members
