Played in early December. Course in beautiful shape. Tees, greens, fairways lushly over-seeded. Even the rough/slopes around the greens were over-seeded.

Challenging course.

I have to agree with the previous review here. We played this course in mid October and was very disappointed. All the mushrooms growing in the fairways made it tough to find your ball. The fairways were in terrible shape...very thin grass on mushy ground. The tee boxes were more like sand boxes. The greens fees are way out of line for a course in this condition. Jack would be ashamed

We paid $70 greens fees...at least they can throw in a small bucket of practice balls for crying out loud!

Want to play a nice Jack Nicklaus course, well play Pawley''s Plantation, not Long Bay. Rotten shape (overseeding in October) as course was bone dry and quite brown. For a premium course, it stinks. I''ve played better Jack courses in NY. Porta-potties on a golf course with non-descript water stations gives the course the look of a Jack after thought. For Long Bay, it''ll be a Long Day in $%^& before I play it again.

Customer Service

Someone previously mentioned the starter doing a good job about laying out the course. I was told not to talk to the starter much as if you did, you would miss your plane home. They were right, this

the course was fantastic. although the course was wet from the rain the previous night it was still great. lots of sand. the starter announced to us in the beginning "welcome to Jack''s sandbox". the greens were difficult to read but were in great shape.

This Jack Nicklas course is all that you would expect. Very nice tee boxes, an optimal landing area on each hole, and challenging greens. The waste bunkers are very much in play on many holes, the sand bunkers are consistent and playable, ample water and beautiful layout. I believe that it was the eighth hole (maybe a different par 3) that is very similar to number sixteen at Augusta National. Everyone in our group is looking forward to our next trip to Myrtle Beach to play Long Bay again.

Shoot in the 90s

The course was lush and green from tee to green. The rough and OB areas were also in great shape. The layout of this Nicklaus design was very challenging. The greens were slick, but not the fastest I have seen. The breaks were true, and many are hidden in the grain of the green. There were a number of multi-tiered greens that required the right approach shot to stay out of 3 putt territrory. The bunkers are well placed and are suitable penalties for errant shots.

I enjoyed the challenge, but I doubt I will come back until I cut my handicap in half.

Customer Service

The starter did a great job of laying out the course for us before we teed off.
