Spectatular layout that doesn't take a backseat to any of the 50 plus courses I've played in Myrtle. Taking into account that it was February, the tees, fairways and greens were in pretty nice shape; I'd like to see them in prime time. Our group found the overall course design to be exceptional; challenging while playable from any of the five sets of tees. If you are looking for an eye-catching experience where each hole maintains tranquility independent from the other holes and golfers, this is your place. If you are looking for a good pace of play, put this course at the bottom of your list. As stated previously, we played in February on a Monday and not many times were booked; yet our round came painfully close to 6 hours. We asked for some intervention on the second hole, but to no avail. The staff appeared to be interested in our concerns, but nothing was done to alleviate the problem. I'm disappointed that I'll never play this gem again, but 5hrs and 40min takes all of the enjoyment out playing golf. Unless you are willing to give up the better part of an entire day, stay clear of TPC. There are too many comparable alternatives to play in Myrtle where your golfing enjoyment takes a higher priority than at TPC. A terrible shame.

Customer Service

Terrific overall. Very friendly, informative, and addressed all concerns except pace of play.

I guess I just expected too much from this course. It was average to say the least. I remember it being tough to get it into the fairway and very hard greens. After getting on the green, it was relatively easy to read the greens and make putts. Nothing to write home about on this one.

Customer Service

Great! Best practice facility and marshals that I have ever played.

A great course! Had a great time on this course. It was in great shape with some really fast greens. This course is a shot makers course, trouble around every green as well as off the fairway.

Customer Service

Sucked! Really needs improvement, the pro shop employees were really ignorant. They did not know my father is a member, they were surprised when my father really laid into them!

Terrific place with a layout that''s right in front of you. all you have to do is go get it. I found the course to be in excellent shape, even in October when other courses overseed. It was a green as Eden and I was pleasantly suprised. From the minute you drive up, you see it''s a first class place. I''ve never been called "Sir" so much in one day. It was as if I owned the place. The 9th, 17th, and 18th holes are great holes to play. The staff keeps things moving, but not to the point of being beligerent. They are very considerate and professional. I would definitely play it again.

Customer Service

Excellent. The best in Myrtle Beach.

Good club ... pretty greens and tee boxes ... layout is good
Last hole with club house in the background is beautiful.
Employees .... bag boys and rangers are friendly. Try to play on days you can use carts on fairways ... at least 90 degrees .... or time constraints will be tight. We did see
a snake about two feet off the fairway. Overall impression was good .... NOT GREAT... expected more. I would not pay
their top rates to play .... wait for specials.

I got such a kick out of playing this course, it was just so cool playing a course that the pros actually play. The Senior Tour plays here late in the season. However, I'm told the tour will be playing here for the last time this year because the prevaling opinion is that it plays too easy for the pros.

Too easy!? Hey, like the ad for the PGA, "these guys are good." I think the course was plenty challenging, demanding placement over pure power.

The course is miraculously maintained, so plush and perfect. It has some tight driving holes along with some deviously placed fairway bunkers. Some simply make the green unreachable in regulation once within their grasp.

The greens are pristine and slick. If you're left with long lags all day, you'll invariably have your fair share of three putts or even worse. Very fast with some tricky undulations and hidden breaks.

The clubhouse had me wishing I had picked up the game earlier, even more than ever. It's all class. I actually looked in the mirror in the locker room and with a smirk said to myself, "I could get used to this." Very appealing and a trademark of the golf course.

The staff was very accomodating, always willing to help and very polite and friendly in conversation. Their operation is smooth as silk. It was funny, on the way to the course, one of my buddies needed a bandaid for a blister. When no one had one for him, he casually said that he'd check at the course. While they were inside, I was squaring things away on the bag. The staff all carry portable radios on their belts to expedite communication. Suddenly, I heard the radio crack, "Tom we have a member in need of a band-aid." The radio then rattled off a series of the same request to different staff members within earshot.
One of the staff members then hurriedly leapt into a car and sped off. He came back minutes later.... with a band-aid for my buddy. He drove into town just for the band-aid! I think we all know that he drove into town for a desired tip, but still, this is service that would be hard to be matched anywhere.

Overall, a very challenging and enjoyable round of golf and one that I would whole-heartedly recommend to all.

This course was in dynomite condition. It was definaly the most lush course we played. Nothing was left to chance here. I am looking forward to playing another TPC, even though my score was sky high. The design of the course is diabollical. The greens were extremely fast, but very true. The course was almost perfect! The location was terrible though. I heard that they are looking to sell the place because the pros think it is too easy. The best player in our 4 some shot 88 from the whites. The Sr. Tour Championship will be the last pro tournment that will be played there.

The restraunt was passable, although I expected more from a club of this calibur. The best deal in the place is $8 personalized tag for your bag.

Shoot in the 70s

My group played in the middle of July and I'm having a hard time understanding what happened to the course condition between the time we played and when the previous player reviews played. We found the course very spotty. The greens were not lightning quick but a bit slow. Maybe an 8 on the Stimp. They were very soft and some looked a little stressed. They did roll true. The bunkers needed a bit more sand in them. The fairways were pretty good but had some bare spots. There were alot of bare spots in the rough.
The course has excellent routing. The par 3's are outstanding as are most of the 4's and 5's. It is imperative you play the correct tees at this course as the Gold tees, at 6,600 yards, have a couple hundred yard carry over marsh just to get to the fairway on a couple of holes. Not a problem for single digit handicappers but if your not a single digit, play the Blues and if you are above an 18, play the whites. Don't get hung up on the yardages for the Blues or Whites, look at the slope and course rating and thenplay the tees accordingly. Otherwise you will lose lots of balls and have a long day.
Previous reviews on the Sr. Tour are incorrect. The Tour has not yet played here. There first Sr. Tour Championship will be this November 2000. However, I can see where they may not like this course in relation to the Dunes GC where they have played for years. The Dunes is a more classic design and is worthy of their top 100 rating. Something this course will never achieve.
With all of my naysaying, I still had a great time due to just being on the course. It's always fun to play where the Tour plays so you can relate to their shots when you watch it on TV. It's an interesting layout but their are about twenty to thirty better courses in the over one hundred courses offered in the Myrtle Beach area.
I'm sure it will be in better shape for their first Sr. Tour event but they have a lot of work to do to get it ready. Something not only I'm saying but also a few of the workers that we talked to also said.
The bottom line - play it if you've never played a TPC course or want to play where the pro's play. Otherwise, try a few others in town. And, call ahead to determine the course condition.

Customer Service

Service at all areas of the bag drop process was superb. The starter was very friendly and the course rangers were very prevalent and willing to help when needed.

Restaurant was very nice with a limited selection of foods and priced a tad high for Myrtle Beach standards. The practice area was first class.
