Shoots in the 80s

I have played many of the Hilton Head courses and spent 3 days on the Sea Pines courses three weeks ago including two rounds on the fantastic Harbor Town links.

Heron Point had opened up just a couple of days before we played it. It is ready and in tip top shape and don't think it is a sprucing up of the old Sea marsh course.

Now the tale. This course is a monster. I loved palying it but make no mistake it made Harbor Town look like easy.

1) It's a thinking mans course. You have to choose your clubs and shots very carefully and leave your testosterone at home. The fairways are somewhat narrow, the length's are not short and if you get past the heavily undelated fairway grading you have lot's of sand protecting the greens which are the most undelated I have ever played and fairly small in size.

Having said all that I think it's a fair golf course layout for a skilled shotmaker. At the time we played it it appeared that no ratings had been posted for the course as I would be very curious to see what kind of slope they come up with. Certainly steeper than Harbor Town.
