Shoot in the 90s

We played there on Sunday 5/13/01. We were sent out on the West course, even though we had requested the East course. The staff was neither good nor bad on at Burning Ridge. The tee boxes were in ok condition. Much of the rough and some of the fairways were turning brown. The overall layout was uninspiring. The greens were hard to hold and had numerous unrepaired ball marks. The traps were inconsistant and frequently unraked. The putting green's speed and breaks were not consistant with what we found on the course.

Shoot in the 70s

There are two courses at Burning Ridge. This review is on the East course which is the better of the two.
This is a solid course that demands proper placement of your tee shot. Many holes have very sharp doglegs, both left and right, that requires you to think before you swing. Most of the doglegs have bunkers at the inside corner. The course is not overly long but due to not being able to use driver on every hole, you don't always have a wedge into the green.
The greens are Bermuda and were in excellent shape when we played. They rolled about a 10 on the Stimp and you need to figure out the grain to get a chance to sink the putt. The greens were firm but held shots hit with a spin type of ball. Would not hold a distance ball very well.
Tees and fairways were in excellent condition when we played on July 3rd. The greens had some character with undulations and pin positions tucked behind bunkers and mounds.
I would give this course a higher rating if not for the poor condition of the bunkers. (See weaknesses below)
