True Blue is fairly long. Visually it is really beautiful. Very nice use of waste areas. Course looks very intimidating. Greens are pretty quick for Bermuda greens. What would make this course really hard is if there was a premium on accuracy. The fairways are 50 to nearly 100 yards wide in spots. Never seens such big, wide fairways. This is really a fun course to play though. A real quality layout.

Solid and challenging as ever. I've you've never played here, be prepared. This course can eat you up. But if you're hitting straight with some distance, it can be had. Huge waste areas line most fairways. Stay out. Course is long. Most Par 5s are around 600 from the blues. Fairways are in great shape. Greens (TIF Eagle Bermuda) are fast, consistent, and true. This can play like 3 or 4 completely different courses depending on the tees you use. A good value and one of the best courses in M.Beach.

Customer Service

The service here is great, a little "looser" than Caledonia. Restaurant, especially breakfast, is excellent.

We played 5 Pawleys courses. I'd rank this only behind Caledonia.

Great course. I have played it 4 times now, with each experience being better and better. The first time is pretty intimidating and a shock. However my last time, it was better to know the layout and I scored well. Easy to hit in the fairway, but getting on the green is another story. Some advice: Hit it straight, or it makes out to a VERY long day. The greens are average for such a stellar course and are tough to get a feel for. Excellent value for 60 bucks.

Whoa!! First hole out of the car is a Par 5 at 624 yards from the Black tees. that should tell you something about this place. It''s tough. but I would definitely play it again, and hope to next year. The greens have been improved to be more receptive. But it''s getting there that might be a problem if your not hitting the ball well. Fairways are generous so you can bomb away. but on some of the Par 5''s, not only is there a long way to go, but there is plenty to think about. The Par 5 fourth is a dogleg left around a lake, with a carry to a postage stamp over water for the brave as your second shot. Wild use of waste bunkers made it fell like you were on an Australian walkabout in the bush. Course is in excellent shape. It is the most unusual course in Myrtle as it looks like no other down there. From the Black tees, it''s just over 7,000 yards at 144 slope. From the Blues (where I played it from), it''s 6,800 yards at 141 slope. With 5 par fives, 3 of which are 600 yards or over, be long and strong.

Shoot in the 80s

This has to be the toughest course I've ever played. As my playing partner noted, "True Blue? I rename it... True Beating!" No truer words ever spoken.
Now, what made this course so tough were the greens. They were the hardest, least receptive greens that I have ever played. I can spin a ball pretty darn good with the wedges, if I don't say so myself. But holding some of these greens..... let's just say that I don't possess the shot necessary. Once on the greens, their slick undulations were mesmerizing. I was beaten down, all day. Baffled by the greens on approach and even when on the dance floor. Just when myself and my buddies were condemning ourselves for being so horrible, a course Ranger drove by. He asked, "how do 'yall like the greens." I thought, what an evil man! He then let us know that we were not alone in our "unfair" assessment of the greens. He said they were actually closing in the summer months to rip up the existing greens and install new ones to provide a fairer test of golf. I should say so! Nothing they have tried has worked, so they're taking the drastic measure of replacing them.
Forgive my ranting, the course is overall and absolutely the most beautiful course that I've played (actually tied for most beautiful with the Moorland course at Legends. Same style courses). Long, rolling fairways lined with bunkers and long fescue (sp?) grass made it a truly great experience with enough "eye candy" to last a golf lifetime.
Considering the management's efforts to make the greens more accessable to anyone not named Tiger Woods, I would recommend this course whole heartedly. Very challenging indeed but when you actually conquer a hole, VERY satisfying!
I shot over my average by at least 15 strokes, in a large part because of the greens. That said, and testimony to the beautiful design, I would welcome the opportunity to revisit for a "True Beating."
