Fort brown golf course is fun to play. EXCEPT the course allows five-somes. And everyday there are afew 6 and seven players on a hole. 5 to 6 hour rounds are the normal.
The course is short. It is also flat, making it easy to walk. Yes, unfortunately they allow 5 somes to walk.
Good and Bad. But if you have lots of time and good weather then it is fine.

These other reviews are quite old. The course has gone under a complete renovation. Great value, excellent greens, native habitat and levee tee offs near the Rio Grande. One of the best municipal courses in the LRGV. The best value in the LRGV period.
You cannot beat the charm of golfing along the Rio Grande with vistas of Matamoros Mexico, UT Brownsville, historic sites, etc.

A poor golf course, by any standards. With dry fairways, and greens that have some patches of dirt. Bunkers are mere holes with hardened mixture of mud and sand. Over all not a very good golf course and not recommended to any golfer visiting the Rio Grande Valley.
