Shoots in the 80s

Played in great March 2010 weather, but the course conditions did not measure up to similar courses recently played in the area. Appears to have been a maintenance crisis through the winter, as the greens were spotty and rough. Trash (limbs, leaves, paper, bottles, cans) was all over the course. The tee boxes were divot pocked; the only thing healthy appeared to be the Spring weeds. I have played other courses in NW Houston recently, and "Long" Wood was "short" on conditioning.

Customer Service

I was part of a 40-person tournament in 10 groups, and the staff shotgunned us off two of the three nines. When we made the turn to our next nine, the starter was interfingering daily fee players into our tournament foursomes, causing a three-group back-up at the first tees of each nine holes. The staff just did not seem to understand that for time efficiency (post-round lunch, scoring, awards presentation) that the golfers needed to stay on pace with the rest of the tournament activities. The club's eating facility was thrown behind schedule, and the golfers both in and out of the tournament did not appreciate the long waits that precipitated out of the Pro Shop and Starter's odd practice.

Shoots in the 90s

Fun golf course. If you can't drive straight, you will have problems here. It's the kind of course that can beat you up a little bit, but when you leave you're already thinking about the next time. It's always in really good shape; tees, fairways, greens, etc. The price is a little higher than some of the other courses around here, but this is one of the few courses I've played where the value equals the cost. It's also only 10 minutes from my house which is always nice.

I like the driving range, and the food isn't that bad either.

Shoot in the 80s

I play this course for my golf league, so I've played it a lot. Its a nice layout with interesting holes. I recommend the Post Oak/Pine 18 if you only have one chance to play it. A better test of golf with interesting holes. The Palmetto 9 is very short and pretty easy, but its also got some interesting holes (3 par fives and very driveable back to back par 4's).

They normally keep the greens in pretty good shape, but they can get spotty during the HOT Houston Summers.

Tee boxes and fairways are pretty nice and the traps are usually well maintained.

Customer Service

Pretty good customer service. On weekdays, they only have one beverage cart for all 3 nines which is a little bothersome.

Nice range, but its pretty small. Okay restaurant that serves the standard golf course fair (burgers, dogs, chips, etc).
