Course should be viewed and played by every golfer in the metroplex or any lover of the game for the nostalgia alone. This is the course where Lord Byron and Ben Hogan honed there skills as caddies and competed against one another for the first time in the caddie open. Before the old clubhouse was removed, you could walk the halls and feel the history of golf run through you. Furthermore, it is the best value in north Texas because of the low fees, abundance of tee times and course condition.

I like this course more than some other golfers I've talked to (I played my first round here in high school & have alot of great memories here), but I gotta admit it is not a very difficult course. The greens & Tees were in pretty good shape when I played last, & the fairways were pretty soft, but they'd been watering the course that morning. It's better than it use to be though, because they made the old #8 & #9 holes #17 & #18 & vice verse (before, 4 of the last 5 holes were Par 3's).

Customer Service

I called on a Thurday morning at 8 & got a 9:30 Tee Time.

Resturant in Clubhouse was great. Pro & Pro-Shop staff were very friendly, as were the members I met. I expected that some of the "old guard" might not be too gracious to the public since this course was until recently exclusively private, but everyone was real friendly.

This course is very old. On a few of the holes there are donkeys and they are very loud. Every single hole is dead straight and very boring. The fairways are mosty dead. It is Texas so what do you expect. The greens are small but kept in good shape. The sand in the bunkers is very hard and it like hitting off of hard earth. Last but not least the course is extremly easy. I normaly loose 1 ball while playing but there you have to be really bad to loose one.
