Shoots in the 80s

Awesome course. I played the Fazio and the Dye course. They are both very different, but both outstanding. The Fazio is much more of a new style resort sort of course. Forgiving fairways for the most part, but your approach shots must be accurate and placed in the proper spot or you are in trouble. Bent grass greens in Texas are rare, but the ones on the Fazio course are outstanding. The Dye course has an old style country club feel to it, but is equally outstanding. Some great holes especially #7 and #9. Great clubhouse. If you get a chance this is a must play in Texas.

Shoot in the 80s

This course and clubhouse was recently named the No, 1 Country Club facility in Dallas/Ft. Worth by Avid Golfer magazine in 2001. It opened in 1986 and is one the best overall tests of golf in Dallas. The Senior Tour players thought it was too tough for their game and egos. Usually only a hand full broke par during the tournament. The LPGA played their Skins game here and loved it. The members liked them much better. You must have your A game on almost every hole. The greens are elevated with deep sand hazards and lakes on most holes. They are also fast and undulating but generally put pure. It is generally in excellent condition. There is also a new Fazio course that opened in 2000 and is available for play if you stay at the new adjacent Westin Resort at Stonebriar. July and August can be hot here and the greens can suffer in a dry summer. 2001 is OK.

Customer Service

Tee times are only for members and their guests. Stay at the Westin and play the Fazio if you don't know a member. Members can play the Fazio but guests of the hotel cannot play the Country Club course.

Pros are excellent and the clubhouse is beautiful. The view across the lake at the clubhouse from the ninth tee box is one of the prettiest in Dallas. The practice range facility is top notch.
