Shoots in the 80s
A great golf course in not such great shape. At 6969 from the back tees and the prevailing Gulf breeze which is usually a steady 15mph, this can be a very tough layout. Certainly, it's lack of conditioning detracts from the experience, but in great shape this would be a championship caliber course much too difficult for the average "tourist" golfer you'll find on the Island. If you are a golfer, ignore the conditions and enjoy the numerous difficult shots and pin placements. If you are not much of a golfer, prepare to be humiliated if the wind is blowing. Customer Service OK. They prefer locals. |

Crappy!!! This was the worst course I have ever played. The fairways were crappy and the greens were crappy. When I paid the green fees I figured this would be the golf experience of my life since I've never paid that much anywhere before except Timber Creek which is actually worth it. It was an experience all right! Until I quit after the tenth hole. THIS WAS A COURSE THAT I WISH I COULD WIPE OUT OF THE BOOKS. I LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A NICE FACILITY BUT THE LACK OF MAINTENANCE HAS RUN IT INTO THE GROUND. THE FAIRWAYS, WHERE THERE WAS GRASS, HAD ST. AUGUSTINE GROWING ON IT. (LIKE OUR FRONT YARDS) THE GREENS WERE VERY SLOW AND DIDNT BREAK LIKE THEY SHOULD DUE TO THE ABUNDENCE OF CLOVER GROWING ON THEM. I DID NOT SEE ONE SINGLE SPRINKLER HEAD ANYWHERE ON THE COURSE. THE REAL PROBLEM I HAD WAS PAYING $50.00 FOR THIS. EVERGREEN POINT IS ONLY $42.00 AND IS A SPECTACULAR COURSE. GALVESTON IS VERY PROUD OF THEIR LITTLE MUNIE. IT WOULD ONLY BE A COURSE TO PLAY IF YOU HAD A BEACH HOUSE AND WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM ALL OF THE KIDS WITH HANGOVERS THAT YOU ARE SUPERVISING WITH HANGOVERS.
