did not like the driving range, rough was overgrown in places, yardage markers were few and far between.

I loved Wortham. what a deal for $16.50 weekends. Fairly wide open, has hills, ponds bunkers. Lots of opportunity to use fairway wood. Greens were nice and some were pretty big, no houses, ball-sellers on course are polite

The course is in close proximity of Houston city center, near Hobby (HOU) airport. Green fees are low and the course is generally not busy, so one can sometimes play a full 18 hole round in less than four hours.

The font nine is bordered by busy, noisy urban streets. The lack of course maintenance has degraded the pleasure once experienced years ago when this course was well manicured. A very polluted and odorous stream meanders through the course and at certain times of the year, especially the summer and fall months when fish kills are common, which degrades the golfing experience to somewhat offensive to the olfactory system.

Tee boxes are not all level or flat and generally peppered with divots. Fairways are not well groomed and support at more than three or four species of grass (plus many weed spp.). Greens incredibly slow, often shaggy and when cut short (speeding them up a little) are often rippled, making the putting surface very difficult to read.
