Shoots in the 90s

The course played fairly long, but most holes were wide open with lot’s of chances to hit your driver. Beware of deep rough if you stray too far from the fairway—don’t even bother looking for your ball if it goes in the deep stuff. The greens were slow, and pace of play was VERY slow. We did not see a marshall the entire round, and there was no starter. Even though we made a tee-time, several groups just walked up and tee-off in front of us before we realized what they did. The fairways were pretty wet despite no recent rains. There was a cart service, with several choices of softdrinks and beer to choose from.

Shoot in the 80s

Olmos has hosted many LPGA tournaments over the years.
This is a straight forward course that has a few challenging holes.

# 2 is a long par 4 up hill and the green is well protected with rough, sand traps and trees. Bogey is a good score.

# 14 is a long par 3; 200 plus yards protected by two bunkers, a ditch on the left and high rough on the right.

You would think that since the course is fairly wide open that it would be easy. The problem is the high rough for errant shots.

This course gets an awful lot of play so the greens tend to be fairly beat up. They are not fast so you can drill your putts top the back of the cup. April through May is the best time to play as the Summer heat dries the course out.
When it rains the basin fills with water and bogs the course down with casual water. Best time to play is late Fall and early Winter because there is less traffic and the course isn't so dry.

The service is neither friendly or efficient.
The course is not "beautiful," per se.
The water moccassins and an occassional train are more thrilling than the course itself.

The course is full of hackers and slow play is the norm.
Go play at twilight or early in the morning.

It's fairly maintained and the tee boxes are awfully hard and often a little shaggy as are the fairways.
