Interesting...my review from Feb 2003 is still on this site..I'm still a Greatwood resident and since then have played this course many times! My feelings are essentially the same! I love this course! The management is wonderful and the course has always been well maintained in my opinion...This course challenges you and you have to bring your A game to do well...many water carries and bunkers! Since Feb of 2003 I have played many courses around the Houston area but am still quite fond of my "home" course..

A very nice layout and in great condition (Summer '05). The greens are true and smooth and the fairways are also in very good shape. The carts are equipped with GPS systems and customer service is great. Greatwood is a great bargain and always provides an enjoyable outing.

Greens, beautiful, fun course

Fixing two bunkers on the back nine, but will help to develop the course in the future.

This course is great! They are working on it on two holes on the back nine to fix the drainage out of a couple of bunkers. Other than that, the course is perfect. The track is fun, and tough, especially if played from the tips. It is very scenic and a great golf experience. Also, the greens are in great shape, fast and consistent. You can really get a feel for them as you progress through the round b/c they keep them all in good shape. Be ready for a great deal of water though, especially if you are a slicer. Some tough holes, and numner 18 (Par 5) is about as tough as they come! I will definitely play this course again many times in the future.

I've been a Greatwood resident for over 3 years and one of the best amenities this community offers is a fantastic 18 hole golf course! I joined the Player Development program at the club about 6 months ago and have been challenged by my experience on this course..This course has 77 bunkers and lots of water so be prepared to bring your "A" game! The staff is very friendly, helpful and courteous and the accomodations are top notch! The carts have GPS which is so helpful in measuring the distance to the pin and the greens have always..in my opinion, been in great shape! One day I even saw a 4 foot alligator by the pond near the 18th green..talk about communing with nature while you play! Bring a ball retriever though because you might end up in some backyards if you slice often..and what backyards these are..beautiful custom homes line the course and provide quite a scenic backdrop! One of the best daily use courses in Houston and a gem for us "Greatwood residents"!!
