The Tribute Golf Links - Golf courses, The Colony, Texas

DESCRIPTION

The Tribute Golf Links' 18 holes are masterfully designed to replicate world-famous holes in the British Isles. St. Andrews, Murifield, Carnoustie and others are all represented here. Rolling links-style fairways are accurately created, pot bunkers are authentic and placed in the same manner as they are on the 'real thing,' and salient features of the holes are all here (like the Valley of Sin on St. Andrews' 18th green).

The full service pro shop is adjacent to a resort hotel with upscale restaurant and bar. The course also features a complete practice range with high-quality practice balls and a highly contoured (like the course itself) putting green.

Located on the east side of Lake Lewisville (many holes have a lake backdrop for the shot) in The Colony, Texas--right in the middle of the D/FW Metroplex.

Shoots in the 80s

Played in summer of 2011, in midst of Texas heatwave. Record 40+ days in a row over a hundred degrees. Despite the heat we had a great time. The sound of bagpipes playing from the clubhouse added to the atmosphere. Driving in, we were immediately impressed. The greens and fairways looked to be in great shape. the staff was great, friendly and helpful. The starter was helpful giving us hints on where not to go and gave us a brief history of the course. The bentgrass greens were fabulous, in spite of the heat. The cartgirl was cute & friendly but we only saw her once on the back nine (when it really started heating up). It was pricey ($129 for me on weekend, $84 for my son who plays on the high schoolteam), but worth splurging for once in a while. If not for the high cost would give a 5. Definitely buy a yardage book for hints throughout the round, and as a nice souvenir.

Friendly & helpful, but should be for the price we paid

BEST COURSE IN DFW!!! This course is amazing, and Golf Digest actually ranked it in the Top 100 Public Courses in the U.S. in their May '07 issue.

What can I say? All of the holes are designed after famous holes in the British Isles, and they are faithfully recreated...you get the rolling links-style fairways, pot bunkers, hidden shots, false fronts and everything else that makes golf an enjoyable and challenging sport. And do note that all of these features, from the Valley of Sin on the 18th to the Postage Stamp green on the 5th, are as close to the original--both in severity and position--as possible.

This course has several sets of tees so challenge is offered to every level of player, but it is by no means a punishing golf course. Keep the ball in play and out of those pot bunkers, and you'll have a wonderful time.

Upkeep of the course is fantastic. The greens are bentgrass, so year-round play is possible...in the winter months, the course takes on a very 'Scottish' mottled-green look, so it's even more authentic.

There's also a resort hotel with a great restaurant and bar, so even if you're an out-of-towner, this would be a great 2 or 3 day golf getaway.

The only gripe I have is that the price is quite high. I played after 2:00 on a weekday, so I got the twilight rate of $60...which all things considered is not that bad for the quality of the course. But the regular weekday rate ($75) and weekend rate ($100) might be a little much for most. If you want to splurge on a great round at a great course, though, you can't really do much better in DFW than this place.

Customer Service

Great staff! Friendly and courteous. This is cheesy, but the starter was actually from Scotland as well.
