Augusta Pines CC - Golf courses, The Woodlands,

DESCRIPTION

A very nice Par 72 course, Home of the Aministaff Small Business Classic on the PGA Champions Tour. Augusta, a remodel of Augusta National with a twist, is located just east of The Woodlands. The course is recognized as one of the best competitors of The Woodlands CC. The Fairways and greens are what make Augusta Pines. Augusta right now is Semi-private until all memberships are out. Staff and Pros are very very helpful if you are new or old to the sport.

4 stars, very challenging course. Fast greens, tee placements to suit a variety of skill levels and well maintained. The layout was user friendly, nice practice range, putting greens and short game practice area in addition to a friendly staff with the exception noted in the customer service review.

Customer Service

The customer service was great except for one member associated with the starter staff I presume who approached me outside immediately following my check in at the pro shop. As I walked outside and approached my bag, this individual shouted at me that course rules state that I must wear a hat.. I politely responded excuse me and he immediately approached and attempted to joke that what he meant was that the sun was going to be intense that day (Mar 20, 10 am, expected high 78 degrees). He then on to say perhaps it didn't matter since my skin was so dark anyway and it probably wouldn't hurt my grayling hair anyway. All of this mind you without a welcome, introduction, and in front of the two Caucasian co-workers that had traveled cross country with me to play this's course. One of whom did Not have a hat a hat on either and did not receive similar treatment. Enough said, you get the picture...

Beautiful course. Well designed and very well maintained. One of the best in the Houston area. (Although pay not attention to the map - this course is located nowhere near the map shown.)
The course is challenging in layout and the greens are fast.
Staff is courteous and course marshalls keep play at an up-tempo.
