I realize that it is early spring, but this course is in terrible shape for one that now costs $74 to $89 in the morning. Every part of the course needs help from tee to green to the rough. The conditions are what I would expect from a lightly funded muni. The course design is both nice and challenging.

The driving range keeps ridiculously short hours, stopping at 5pm when it is still light at 7:30, and at $10 for a "large" bucket, not a great place for practice.

Customer Service

The staff has always been rather snooty, and I don't enjoy the interaction with the clubhouse.

Great course design, but sometimes it is poorly managed. I've had some amazing rounds of golf there, and other times I've had to fight giant man-killing bugs who burrow into the greens. I really do love this course, but it has some problems.

Pleasant Valley is one of the better courses in the area. The condition of the greens is not as prestine as when it first opened but it is still a great course.

Shoot in the 90s

I could just call this Unpleasant Valley and leave it at that, but I suppose George would delete the review for being a lame review, so here is why I rate this course a dog track.

1) This is the most unattractive course I have ever played. No vistas. Many of the holes are surrounded by ugly scrub grass. The only attractive hole is the par 3 #7. 100% carry over water to a green nestled in some rolling hills. This hole looked very out of place on this course.

2) Practice tees are grass, Virgina crab grass.

3) Totally unimaginative design. Most holes play nearly straight away.

4) Local high school sports stadium PA is easily heard around the entire course. Nothing is worse than the sound of castrated teen age boys catawailing between innings.

5) The rough was challenging, but it seemed that far too many times my ball was sitting in a hole or between clumps of grass. It is impossible to keep a ball in play or get it out when it is in 3+ inches of grass AND sitting in a hole.

6) The fairways may be Bermuda or bent grass, but the rough is crab grass.

7) Poor drainage. It rained 3 days ago and much of the back nine was saturated. Lots of casual or standing water.

8) Poor management. During cart path only conditions, the tee times should be spaced out a little bit more. Green may work for the course's owner, but I'll never play it again.

9) 5 somes. Totally unacceptable at any course, especially one that gets $39 weekday/$85 weekend.

10) Typical public course patrons. Lots of unrepaired ball marks and unraked traps

11) The seed/sand mix container on my cart had enough fill in it to fill perhaps 3 divots.
