Shoots in the 80s

This golf course is in Forest, VA, located in a real estate development, marked by several lakes and big greens. It's a really nice layout, and for an inexpensive course (my student membership only cost 300) it is well-maintained. Some of the more memorable holes: (from the white tees, which are plenty challenging for most) 1) 400 yards with a wide fairway, great opener. 4) short par 3 which gives you a good chance for birdie and is a break before... 5) 420 yard par 4, carry your drive to a ridge, a perfect tee shot will roll down the hill and leave you with about a mid iron to an elevated green. Tough hole. 7) Signature hole. 250 yards off the tee, then a fairway wood or long iron to a bunkered green over a lake. Can be proud to take par here, won't feel bad about bogey. 10) Short hole, draw your tee shot around trees or, for the straight shooters or faders, take it over the trees for a short iron approach. 15) medium par 3, big green, fun hole. 16) Another signature hole. Downhill tee shot, take an iron to the edge of another lake, then about 300 yards uphill to the green. Can be an easy birdie or a tough double bogey, takes two good placement shots. --range, putting green, practice bunker, pitching/bunker green, pro shop, instruction, grille.

Customer Service

Staff is exceptionally friendly. I've been a member here for a few weeks, and staff and pros have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome.

Shoots in the 90s

Ivy Hill golf Club is situated in the center of Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounds a series of small man-made lakes. for that reason I have always expected it to be successful and perhaps grow into an exclusive or private club. years of poor management prevented that until recently(3-4 years). Ivy Hill is a course that has undergone a spendid transformation. I played the course for the first time in about five years and was frankly stunned. In short, the maintainance and attention to detail now puts this course on level with many that charge much higher fees($35.00). The tee boxes were well maintained surfaces(not to mention the granite markers). The traps were full of fluffy sand to my chagrine. The fairways were universally gorgeous. The overall course layout plays more to the long ball hitter, though the women's boxes are incredibly favorable. On several holes, the player is presented with a lake approximately 210 yards from the tee, with the green approximately 90 or 150 yards on the other side. You are treated to beautiful scenery, a well maintained course and a course that is challenging. Don't try to walk your first time out as it is a long course. In closing, you'll love the carts. this is the first course I've played that has club washers installed on the carts(electric). So in short, if given the chance, definitely detour to play this now wonderful course.

Customer Service

The pro, staff and starter were all great. The only drawback was a man serving at the grill who was rude to my wife. May have been a long day for him.
