Shoots in the 80s

Played here in late March for the first, but definitely not the last, time. I loved the layout with water, sand, scenery, some woodsy areas, but mostly the elevation changes and dogleg holes. You start out on number one with a dogleg left needing to place your tee shot between traps at the top of a hill with the green now 125 yds away and 30 ft below you tucked partly behind a stone lined lake. And it just keeps going for 17 more glorious holes. Many of the tee shots have landing areas you can't see and most of your approach shots must have that elevation change factored in. This is not an auto-driver-off-the-tee course by any stretch; you're going to have to think your way around this jewel.

The course was in very good condition given the time of year with only the traps suffering from lack of maintenance. Do yourself a favor and book a tee time and if you want a real test of endurance, walk it, even if your bag is on the cart.

Shoots in the 90s

I have played Blue Ridge Shadows several times. It is a hike to get out there, and isn't the cheapest round in the world, but is one of the most fun courses that I have played. Extremely enjoyable.

Customer Service

Top notch. The staff here goes out of their way for you. One time a friend and I were out there and it was 100+ degrees.....every other hole one of the staff came around with iced towels and water to make sure that we were OK. It saved the round of golf to be honest.

They are also sympathetic to complaints about slow play from the gambling obsessed asians who have infested the golf courses in Northern VA. If you ask them to they will repeatedly speak to them about moving on. It's not the fault of the staff that these people are degenerate gamblers.
