Pace of play here is ridiculous. Great price but not even close to worth it. Conditions are average at best. Many areas should be ground under repair but nothing is marked. Some bunkers were full of water. Others like cement.

Customer Service

Indifferent.

This course has a lot of issues. The design is hindered by the topography of the land. On several holes it appears as though the better layout would have been a less severe dogleg. However, that would require that the developers not set aside land for the hideous mcmansions that line the sides of most holes. Obviously, this course is designed to maximize $$$, not the golf experience.

Some of the greens were very nice, but most suffered from abuse. The tee boxes looked like goats used them for dinner. The overall maintenance of the course was well below average. Overall, a disappointing experience.

The course layout is OK, but the maintenance stinks. An appropriate price to pay here would be $10. Of course they charge you 4X that amount....on a weekday. In short, play it only in a pinch. Otherwise your money is better spent elsewhere.

Customer Service

OK for a staff of 15 year olds....

This course is not for beginners. It is very tight, houses all around and way way to many blind shots. Course condition was ok but not great. We were rushed out onto the course when we arrived and this didn't help.

I played this today to survey it for a possible tournament with our group. Well, I won't be playing any outing here. First, the positives. The staff was great, and very helpful. Here are the negatives. The P.B. Dye design is, as always, punishing, with lots of blind tee shots (a P.B. Dye trademark). Too painful, but acceptable if the course is in good shape (which it wasn't). Several rough greens, scraggly tee boxes, and there are sick-looking bare spots on nearly every fairway, especially along the edges of the rough. I almost always had poor lies in the fairway. Couple that with the fact that the houses encroach dramatically on the course throughout most of the 18 holes. If your fade becomes a little to0 slice-ey, you are bouncing off a rooftop or shattering windows. I don't want to golf in an urban environment! Finally, we like to walk, and while walking is allowed, the course is not really set up for it, with long hikes between holes, dodging soccer moms in minivans at cross walks as you go. No thanks.

Customer Service

Great - no complaints.

Va. Oaks was a welcome change after playing the less than satisfying Herndon and Rasberry Falls, the staff was great, the club house nice and the course beautiful and in good shape. The driving range is a bit far from the clubhouse but the rates easily make up for that one caveat. The course is in good shape despite the tough summer. The yardage on holes are well marked, must have been upgraded since on of the other reviews.

Played Virginia Oaks end of April 2004 and found the course in terrible shape compared to other courses in the area. Scraggly teeboxes were most noticeable. Course lacked distance markers; I spent far too much time wandering around the fairways trying to determine yardages. Most tee boxes lacked yardage markers. On one of the par 3's, I gave up trying to determine the distance and just hit what I thought was the right club. It turned out to be two clubs wrong. If you like playing golf down rows of houses, then Virginia Oaks is for you. One of the par 5's on the back nine has townhomes that can come into play. Depending on your position in the fairway, you can hit an approach shot over a corner of the townhomes. This Dye course is missing the windmill and clown face.

This is a great course for both the low and high handicap players. It is a difficult course, but is still playable for the beginner.

Customer Service

Everyone around is friendly and helpful.

A "put the ball in the clown's mouth" Dye "design" with lovely vistas which are intruded upon by cheap townhouses.
