Gloucester Country Club... ahem....

Lovingly referred to the R & A Gloucester CC, or simply the R&A GCC. The R&A stands for the Rugged and Affordable. I did say lovingly.

The course is everything described by geo, I know geo and he doesn't lie, but he will sneak a drop in via a hole in his pants pocket...

That said, this course is user friendly. I taught my nephew how to play on this course, and he still shows up to play on designated days.

There are carts available, the 7th hole is a long link with a very high net down the right side to keep balls from encroaching on the Wal Mart parking lot.

The clientel are steady customers, the staff is great. It's perfect for the Saturday morning round before you have to hit the honey-do list back at the ranch. Quick, easy, close, with many amiable friends playing their rounds. It's country, and it's as comfortable as a well worn pair of shoes.

This flat 9 hole course which is easy to walk. Number 2 is is a dipping dogleg left to a rising green. All links are somewhat narrow. Two sets Water hazards come into play on four holes. There approximately 15 greenside sand bunkers which have been incorporated into the course design.

There are additional sets of tee boxes for 18 hole play.

Built in the 1920's by 7 Doctor's as a private course it is probably best described as a Mom and Pop course which resembles Muni's from the 70's. Inexpensive to play, and for me... close to the house.

The greens are far from billiard table perfect; don't expect an exclusive experience.

The staff consists of the groundskeeper and the counter person. They're really friendly and are great folks.

A pro shop doesn't exist... but you can by crackers, peanuts, candy bars, coffee, and soft drinks... there may be beer, but I am unsure.

No driving range. There is a small practice green. Which resembles the quality found on the course.

I'm not knocking this place... as the owners are fierce defenders of an inexpensive round in a rural area which is starting to grow. They have shunned offers to sell to developers... that's loyalty which many local golfers greatly appreciate.

Reb/white tees are 6165 yards
Blue/Yellow tees are 5035
