Nice practice facility.
Bring insect repellent and wear a hat that is saturated.

Nice course. I'm a walker. It's hot and sultry in the summer, especially in the afternoons.

The practice facility is really nice. I go over occasionally to just practice and grab a bite to eat.

Deer Run in Newport News.... pretty generic layout. The River is a beautiful back drop. I prefer this one over Kings Mill, and even Toano. It's more laid back and a lot more peaceful.

Shoots in the 80s

love the courses conditions and scenery. the front nine is a whole lot more diff. from the back. the front is tight. the back is more open but will trick you in places. really like the river on the back of the couple holes. All in all i''d say this rolling hill golf course is pretty nice.

Customer Service

Shoot in the 70s

They are changing this course apparently to make it easier. The first hole used to be a great starting hole, but they have opened up the landing area and removed this really cool bunker that was sitting in it. The front nine does have some really fantastic holes. They have changed a couple of the greens to make them a lot less mickey the mouse and more playable. Great conditioning, price, and friendly attitude. Back nine is not so special, particularly number 16, where do you hit to?? Have played 4 or 5 times and still have 0 strategy for that hole. No lie, restore the first hole, and get the back nine to equal the front nine's quality of holes and it is the best course in the state. As it is now, try to play the front twice and then go on home.
