The course is in nice shape and provides enough challenge without being frustrating. Does not feel cramped like many courses in the area.

Customer Service

Saw lots of reviews that had complaints but have never had a problem here. Granted I didn't feel like I was at a resort course being fawned upon but then I don't go to golf courses seeking love from t

Course winds it's way through a nice wooded setting. I had a deer run across the blue tee box while we were teeing off of the white tees. The deer had as much right to play the blues as many people that do. Some of the holes are poorly laid out and don't reflect a naturally difficult course. Greens are normally in very nice condition and most fairways are tight considering the amount of play. The rough is grass right out of your back yard, but all the more reason to stay out of it. Wouldn't walk this course.

Customer Service

Did not feel welcome. Felt like they were doing me a favor. Will not play course again and this is a large part of it.

Restaurant was fine. Range and practice green were nicely placed -- close to the clubhouse. The turn placed nicely so golfers can use restrooms or purchase food.

Course is almost always in really good shape. Good variety of holes which tend to be shorter but tight.

The second par three on the front nine has a green with a slope back to front that rivals a US Open green. There has been talk of fixing it which would be a good idea.

Biggest drawback is the really cranky starter and fouled up starting procedures. You sign in with the starter but cannot pay until she tells you to later. So you have to check in again with her, get her permission to pay, pay, and then come back and sign in with her again. Yipes.

Pohick is a good course. It has some difficult holes, but for the most part, its a fair course. One of the par 3's early in the round (I think its #4) is a pretty difficult hole..... a good poke up a slight hill. Seems like the course has a lot of holes that play up hill. Keep the ball in the fairway, as the rough is quite thick. A like Pohick, but don't love it. The lay-out of the holes is pretty good, although on 7 and 8, they play are virtually the same hole layout, just going in opposite directions. Not much water on the course, and don't I don't remeber many bunkers/traps coming into play. Lots of rough.

Customer Service

The pro shop and restaurant staff are kids, so you tend to have to wait for them to get done chatting with eachother before they'll wait on you. A bit annoying, but not a big deal.

The course sprawls over hilly terrain with tree-lined fairways and rather heavy rough. You pay for misplayed shots. It is in excellent shape with lush fairways and slick greens. Pohick Park is a beautiful setting, and it is not unusal to see many types of wild-life during a round, including white-tailed deer that graze on some holes seemingly unfazed by passing golfers. Water comes into play on holes 13, 14, and 15. The four par 3's are challenging holes each featuring signicant elevation change. Three of the four par 5 fives (3, 6, & 13) are reachable in two by reasonably long hitters. The par five 13th might well be considered the signature hole: a par five with a sharp dogleg to the right and a long terror inducing second or third shot (depends on whether a short drive forces you to lay-up)over a pond to an elevated green with trouble on both sides.

Pohick Bay is not a long course but it will eat your lunch the first time you play it if you don't bring your "A" game. It grows on you though, and as you learn its quirks and nuances, it becomes a very pleasant golfing experience, especially for an early morning or late afternoon round.

Most of the starters, I believe, are volunteers who work for free green fees. Some are good, but some are cranky and/or anxious. More consistency in this key customer contact position should be a major objective for management.

Customer Service

Some of the starters could benefit from training in customer relations.
