The Championship course is the BEST public course (for the money) I have ever played. And, I an not the only one to have ever said that about NNGC.

The Championship is long and fairly open, but the rough will kill you; Very deep.

The snack bar at the 10th has some of the best hot dogs I have ever had. The chili is great!

It is a beautifull and challenging course. I have played it probably 300 times. I love it and NEVER got sick of it.

The proshop does not allow walkers. All must take a cart

Newport News GC is a 36 hole facility with two course to choose from: Cardinal and Championship. The Cardinal is the easier of the two, being short and pretty easy. It is not kept very well. The fairways are relatively low, but are pretty scarggly looking. It has a few interesting holes but not a very unique course. The greens are average for a public course, not bad or great. The Championship is the better of the two. It is well kept and is a challinging layout. It has some spectacular holes, and it well worth the extra money to play it. The greens are faster and in better shape, the fairways are low, and the rough is high. The greens are not very sloping, but are difficult to putt on. The pro shop is well stocked, and the staff is helpful. They have a putting and chipping green, and a driving range, range balls are separate.
