I live in South Riding and play there often. Over the past few years, the golf course has seen some changes in the quality of the course. Their greens are almost always in good shape, and they constantly move the tee-off locations on teh tee boxes so that the grass on the tee-boxes grows evenly. Overall, the fairways are in good condition, the course is mildly challenging, and lots of opportunities to loose balls if it goes out of bounds. One thing I do notice is that the beverage cart does not come by very often on the course. especially on the weekend after 3p.m. Best deals for play SR is to get their Players Pass membership and you get unlimited use of range and practise facilities, as well as free and dicounted course fees. Weekend morning rates are on the high side, but twilight and other discoutned rates are a great deal as all rates include power carts. As far as the range, you now have to use a really poor quality green carpet as the tee-ing area on the range. Its in horrible condition.

Customer Service

Very good. They are very accomodating to getting you on the course if you don't have tee-times. I have never had any problems with them.

This course is very fun and challenging. There are too many long walks in between holes. Great design, good fairways. The greens can be REALLY hard or soft.

Customer Service

I don't often post a review, but the South Riding golf course was so singularly an unpleasant experience that I would feel remiss not to share a few thoughts. It's a ridiculously overpriced tract in the southwestern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC set in the midst of a gated community. The golf course, a Dan Maples layout, is wholly unremarkable in design aside from the fact that most of the holes are bordered by the ugliest housing development perhaps in all of northern Virginia. The tee boxes were in shambles, the greens and fairways OK and the electronic yardage marking system unusable since golf carts were relegated to paths only. No, I don't imagine returning to this place. Try Pleasant Valley instead. It's only 4 miles away.

Customer Service

Not as bad as reported in the other reviews

It was so wet in early July that mats were necessary on the driving range.

Agree with other poster- tee boxes were in bad shape. I went in Fall of '02 and again in August '03, and both times felt like I was overcharged. Tee boxes were a mess, 3 of 4 GPS units didn't work. One cart lost all scores (on board computer) - I used my scorecard, for backup. But what I hate most is the damn sawgrass. If you're learning to play, this isn't where to do it - you'll loose a lot of ball.

Shoot in the 90s

I played after a coupe of days of rain. The fairways were lush and green, with some standing water, but that was to be expected. There were several greens with areas under repair. Other than that, they were excellent. The sand traps needed a bit more sand and haden't been dragged since it rained. The tee boxes were in terrible condition. grass on the tees was very sparse. For what this course charges, it's tees should be in much much better condition. Overall the design was excellent and the links feel that is common to many Dan Maples designs. There were lots of bail out or high risk go for it shots on this course.
