Shoots in the 90s

Stony Creek, Wintergreen Resort's Valley course, is 180 degrees different from the mountain course, Devils' Knob. It has 3 separate 9 hole courses, Monacan, Shamokin, and Tuckahoe. Tuckahoe is the latest addition, and is quite different from its predecessors. All 3 courses are wide open compared to Devils' Knob; the mountain course has tight, unforgiving holes, whereas the valley courses are wider and flatter. On several holes, water comes into play. Lake Monacan has swallowed several balls, I'm sure. One hole on the Monacan 9, a par 3, plays over the water to a small well protected green. The Tuckahoe 9 has a similar par 3 over water as well. The main differences between the mountain and valley courses are the length; many holes demand a long tee shot, driver; and width, the valley course is far more forgiving, but be warned...it is by no means WIDE open. Just when compared to Devil's Knob. I thoroughly enjoy all 3 nines, for their different reasons. The original 18 is far more wooded and has little elevation change. The newest 9 starts off with 3 elevated tee boxes, water on 2/3 of the first 3 holes, and more elevation change found throughout the rest of the 9. Also, the fairways aren't as closely guarded by deep woods as the other 2 nines are.

Top Notch! (Whaddup Chris!)

Driving Range is great. Practice putting green is much mastier than course greens, faster, more undulating. Their instructors are some of the best I've ever met.
