This is a "NEW" golf course. Completely re-done in sort of a links style look. And it works! It has only been open 1 month or so. The fairways have long grass as they are still getting going. Every hole is interesting. I have NEVER played a course with greens so tough. They are growing strong and not quite up to full speed, but roll true. EVERY green has numerous undulations, mounds, swails, etc. I never had a straight putt all day and I loved it! They are going to be fabulous. There are these grass knolls on edges of many fairways where the grass is at least 6-8 inches high. The knolls are only 10ft x 10ft, but if you find one you can almost lose a ball. This is going to be one fun golf course. Drove 160 miles from Oregon to play Skamania 6 miles down the road (unplayable, see my review), so next day we went to this course and we will DEFINTELY go again. Also, food was reasonable and the best french fries ever. Excellent value. ALSO: play it in morning as this is Columbia Gorge and wind can be fierce in the afternoon.

Don't waste your time, this is no longer a course. We stopped by there on a Sunday and found that the course has not been watered all year, the greens have gone to the weeds with the soil cracked, and the pro shop was locked up tight.

Shoots in the 100s

This links style course has recently been re-sculpted and is hard to beat for scenery, relaxed atmosphere and value. Four tee boxes allow flexibility in the challenge and the large, undulating greens are awesome. This is well worth the short trip from Portland, Vancouver or Hood River!

When Rudy Hegewald owned Carson, the course was funky, but fun. The new owners obviously don't give a damn, & if you complain, they act like you asked for their green cards. Unfortunately, one of my favorite courses is now a piece of garbage. Plants in the bunkers, rotten greens, rude management. Stay away!
