Shoots in the 90s

Played this course on a rainy, windy February day and the course was in pretty good condition considering the weather. I thought the course was nice and fairly wide open, probably not real challenging for a good player, but nice for me to learn on. I thought the greens were tough, even though they were slowed by the rain. I would not want to pay full price though, luckily we paid much less on EZ Links. Overall, a nice wide open golf course that should probably be priced lower.

Shoots in the 70s

This is easily the worst golf course I have ever played. That saying alot as I have played over 100 courses. The greens had brown patches throughout... the fairways were burnt out through the entire course. There was nothing exciting or challenging about the course layout. Barely any trees, a couple of unkept water hazards and sand traps that played more like hardpan dirt. The customer service was exceedingly horrible. Although the weather was nice on the front nine, it turned bad on the back and we were refused a refund or a rain check for the nine that we had paid for. I've never run into this at any golf course I've played. If you ever have a chance to play this course, turn around and run the other direction.

Customer Service

The worst I've ever experienced.

Shoot in the 90s

Although not a true links it has the feel of one. If it didn't have all the water and a sandier base it would be terrific for all handicappers. It is not overly strategic but the off fairway shots are forgiving and usually playable.
It's third hole is a semi-heroic style on the 2nd shot; usually requiring a fairway wood or long iron over a large lake for this crumbling man.
The ninth is a great hole for the accurate and long drive as there is a hill just barely within (my) range that has a "fast lane" that'll take the ball a good distance on the roll - something rare for us Norwesters.
My favorite par 3 is the 11th, it reminds me most of the Isles in its presentation (make believe the house and barn are not there) with wasteland off the tee and a semiblind green and the winds always seem to (me) to be strongest on this hole.
The 14th is a fun risk / reward dogleg around water. Terrific green design.
My buddy (Pamod) got a hole in one on the 17th. Forever in my memory as a great moment. His too I'm sure.

All in all, this is my favorite daily fee course. Not because of its perfection but because of its naturalness and recoverability of bad shots, (except for the water balls). The amount of work that they have put into this course deserves higher points for the effort. The turf is looking (and feeling) very good; the greens are something the crew should be very proud of. If you haven't played this course in a while it's time to give Tri another try. One more thing that must be mentioned... I can't remember ever being paired up with a snob or spiritless golfer here.

In the spirit of Dr. Alistair MacKenzie, it's pleasant golf.

Customer Service

I always am welcomed as a solo walk-on. Though I don't recommend this everywhere, have never been turned away or had to wait long.

I asked the feller in the pro shop who the architect was but he didn't know. Hmmm...?
