Shoots in the 70s

A challenging but at times quirky course. Many of the holes are excellent, some are just bad. Overall, I enjoy Qualchan as one of my favorites in the Spokane area. #1 is a great opening hole, one of the best openers in Washington. #3 is challenging and fun. #5 is poorly designed, with no strategy and excessively penal. #7 and #8 are fun. #9 is odd. #10 is a 90 degree right turn, not well designed. #12 is the hardest hole, straight but long and tight. #13 is just bizarre. #16 is a gem for strategy. #18 is a tough finishing hole, with a 100 yard creek and 100 foot elevation gain to cross. Conditioning: very good. Driving range: grass tees, practice sand trap, but uphill range. Putting green is a postage stamp. Some climbing on the course, but mostly level. Lots of sand, lots of water, good atmosphere.

Model Reviewed: The Creek at Qualchan

Spokane's newest muni. The course starts off great with a short par four with the tee shot over a huge cliff. The rest of the front nine is pretty good but the back nine is too funky for me. I think the City of Spokane just ran out of room. An examlpe of this is the quirky, for lack of a better term, hole thirteen. I totally disagree with any hole that dog-legs at a ninety degree angle. Holes like thirteen take all the creativity out of the game. Eighteen is a good finishing hole that plays much longer than the yardage indicates. Overall, the course has some good challenges but you can spend your money on much better courses in and around Spokane.

No complaints.

Although the range is grass which is great, it is uphill so it's hard to judge yardages. The putting green is ridiculously small.
