Greens have fallen on hard times the last three or four years and are agonizingly slow.

Whitnall Park is a fun layout. Set amist hundreds of trees, it's an old fashioned course with average size greens. The back tees are about 6300 yards. This is the kind of public course that golf was built on. Designed in 1932. Three par 3's and two par 5's, par 71. Not a hard course to post a score, though several holes can eat your lunch. Management has promised improved greens. Course plays in about 4 1/2 hours and is suitable for all handicaps

None to speak of... golf here for $30 and you'll go away happy.

I've always thought the Milwaukee County Parks system has some of the nicest municipal golf courses around. Nearly every course is well maintained, the people are friendly and the prices are reasonable. So, with all of that in mind, I was still incredibly impressed with the Whitnall Park Golf Course.

Whitnall Park Golf Course is set inside a HUGE public park on Milwaukee County's southwest side. Featuring a variety of hole configurations, every fairway is lined with beautiful, large mature trees. The greens are some of the best I've played on for a municipal course. The par-5 holes were especially challenging (especially for my skill level), however they were still playable enough so that you didn't seem overwhelmed.

The clubhouse isn't necessarily large, but is more full featured then most country courses, and the view from the bar window is spectacular for any clubhouse.

With the birds singing and deer skirting the fairways, this was just a very pleasant golfing experience.
