Currie is a public course, owned and operated by Milwaukee County. It plays about 6400 yards from the tips, and has only 4 holes longer than 400 yards, and three of those are par 5's. I think you can count the number of bunkers on the course on one hand, and water only comes into play on about 3 holes. Conditioning is sometimes an issue (greens and fairways a little shaggy, and the tee boxes could use some TLC) and the clubhouse facilities aren't the most modern.
OK, so Currie isn't going to make anyone forget Augusta National, but for the amount of play it gets, it ain't all that bad a course for the average golfer. While it doesn't have a lot of hazards it does have a ton of trees; if you don't keep the ball in the fairway you'll have a hard time scoring. Also, the course has been reworked and tweaked here and there over the past couple of years, so you'll find some challenges no matter what your skill level. For instance the third hole has been lengthened to a 580 yd. par 5 that requires three solid shots to reach a fairly shallow green. The 16th is a par 3 over water that can play anywhere from 130 to 220 yards.
The best part of Currie is the price. This past summer on weekdays you could play 18 holes with a cart for just $25. Even on weekends you can play for less than $40 if you catch one of their many deals.
In short if you're looking for high-end luxury when it comes to golf, keep looking. If you just want to play golf at a course that's fun and challenging that won't cost you more than your car payment Currie Park will do just fine.

Customer Service

You won't get pampered, but if you just want to play golf you've come to the right place.

Ok layout. The greens were in reasonable shape and true. Fairways were long and shaggy. It was hard to tell the fairway from the rough. Many of the holes were having the tee boxes reworked and had very short temporary tees.

Customer Service

The worst course attendants that I have ever encountered. Extremely rude and antagonistic. Don't waste your time on this course. The experience will only give you heartburn.

Good thing rates are cheap for residents. Fairways suck, greens suck, tee boxes suck. Not taken care of. Pace of play is slow. The most played course in the county. You'd think they'd put a little money into it. But that's a different story.

Customer Service

One starter there is extremely rude. Raspy voiced, Af-Am gentleman. Acts as if he'd rather be somewhere else. Then go, CLETE!

Currie Golf Course is one of the poorest golf courses that exists in the state of Wisconsin. The course is one of the worst conditioned golf courses with uncut shaggy fairways and tee boxes (they look like the grass on my front lawn after two weeks of not mowing). You will find potholes and large mud and dirt and grassless areas in the middle of many fairways and many tee boxes. The greens are very slow and the bumpiest you will find. It seems nobody running Currie cares to make this place look like a golf course. The course is open in December and even January or February - as long as there is less than a tenth of an inch of snow on the ground. What course that cares about the condition of their course and the grass would keep a course open all winter when every other course in the northern half of the country is closed by Thanksgiving until at least March. The course is very short and most holes are straight, flat, and boring. The people that golf at Currie are disrespectful and rude, obnoxious golfers and the clubhouse service is also rude and not Customer friendly or focused.

Decent golf for the money. Not too much in the way of hazards, and playable for all handicaps. Deep rough at the time I played, with nice fairways and greens. Traps lack enough sand for good play, and course tends to play way slower than the 4.5 hour round. It is pretty straight forward tee to green, and enjoyable for a relaxing afternoon.

Customer Service

Disorganized, and very time consuming.

Decent course considering the money you pay - very cheap. But don't expect to play at a decent pace or for the golfers there to have any golf decency...

This is my "home course" due to its location and cheap price. It is no gem. Flat, relatively short and very few hazards. Gets a bit busy on summer weekends. Not kept in great shape. Because it is cheap, it is not bad for the price. That said, you can find better inexpensive Milwaukee County courses such as Dretzka, Greenfield, Whitnall and the top of the line Brown Deer (which costs a bit more but is well worth it). Call the local tee time line to get a reservation up to a week in advance.

The course is really cheap. That's a big plus. I doesn't have any real trouble so it's easy to play. The holes are relatively short so scoring isn't a problem. It's near a freeway and the traffic noise was a little distracting.

Customer Service

The starter was friendly but terribly unorganized. We had to wait an hour to tee off.
