Shoot in the 80s

This course is not at all for beginners, but with that said, if the previous golfers posting to this website truely play in the 90's, they should have some appreciation for this course. If you can shoot in the 90's you can respect the risk reward scenarios that Bittersweet offers to golfers. Water or OB is on EVERY hole, but the course is not particularly long, enabling you to play irons off many tees (oftentimes the greens are easier to hit than the fairways, so be patient)
You would be hard pressed to find a more scenic course in greater Chicagoland. Nearly every hole plays through protected wetlands. The back nine is routed through towering trees, making for some demanding shots.
Conditioning was average, I played in late fall and many greens were in poor shape.
For the area, the price was not bad, (relative to White Deer Run, ThunderHawk, or Stonewall Orchard) Stonewall was a much less interesting layout for a higher price.
Choose your tees WISELY (a guy in my foursome drove through at least 3 fairways....use some strategy), bring your A game, and try this one out. May even want to leave an erratic driver in the trunk.

Ranger let me off early, pairing me up with a threesome, as I was playing alone that day

Good sized bentgrass driving range, which I believe is lighted, as is the putting green.

Previous reviews are right on target. Play Bittersweet if you are looking for a thoroughly unenjoyable golf experience. I thought my group was alone in our disappointment with the track, but realized we were only there because everyplace else was booked. Couldn't pay me to go back.

Shoot in the 90s

Ill just reiterate. This is not even an intermediate course. This is by far the biggest BALL EATER I have ever played. It made me feel like I was playing for the first time! I am not a great golfer, but give me a break. Saying this course is unfair is an understatement. Even with the unreliable GPS systems, I didnt feel safe taking any shots further than 150 yards, for fear of another lost ball. I am thinking the used ball hunters should hit this course hard. Its a gold mine!!!

Customer Service

OK service with a little attitude.
