A great course and value. Challenging for all levels of player. My wife and I played there and will return. Beautiful layout, the only negative I would give is no restroom facilities on the course, but does turn at the clubhouse. Green and fairways were in good shape and plenty of water/sand hazards to keep your attention. Customer Service Customer service was good, but food offering in clubhouse a little thin but adequate. Similar Products Used: Similar in enjoyment as Star Ranch and Cowen Creek. |

I played Shadowglen this past weekend for the first time and walked away shocked. I had misjudged my perception of "Manor, TX" and thought the drive would be too much. In actuality it took less than 15 minutes from downtown.
Customer Service Staff was very informative and friendly. Gave me great advice on how to play the course. Similar Products Used: Falconhead Golf Club, Wolf Dancer |

This is a well kept, moderately priced, long and tough golf course. I've played this course in excess of 40+ rounds, and It's a different experience each time I play it. Pros: A true challenge of golf. Bring your "A" game, and some extra balls. Trust me, you'll be using every club in the bag on this course. Nonetheless, once you play this course about a dozen or so times, you begin to understand how to play it, and your scores will drop.
Customer Service Staff is friendly, maybe a bit too friendly. (Not sure about sincere factor) They're professional and I have no complaints. Similar Products Used: I've played over a hundered golf courses across the United States and Mexico, and there isn't one too much like Shadow glen. I have played Forest Creek, Star Ranch, Blackhawk, Crystal Falls, and several other local courses in the Austin area. |

Horrible golf course. Do not ever waste your time driving into dull Manor, Texas to play at this club. The course conditions are tragic. The customer service in the pro shop was great, but the course is simply unplayable. There are much better courses in the Austin hill country. Also, my partner and I both got food poisoning from the food at the grill. Do not order the pulled pork or hot dogs. Customer Service Great in the pro shop, non-existent in the restaurant. |

This is one of my favorite courses in Texas - yes, it is also the toughest public course for under $100. Even in the winter time, it is still well maintained. The winds out of the West constantly dog you and contribute to the difficulty. Unfortunately, it is not marshaled and certain groups who are foreign-born have never heard of the concept of allowing faster groups to play through. However, this appears to be the norm around the Austin area where these groups congregate in groups of 5 (or more) and slow the play considerably. In my opinion, having a comment such as "slow groups that do not allow faster ones to play through may be asked to leave" posted on the scorecard would be a welcome addition to any course's scorecard. We don't need rude groups who plumb-bob even the fairways. Customer Service Lack of marshals on the course detract from the enjoyment of this course. Those in the clubhouse and the grill are very attentive and friendly. Similar Products Used: Shadowglen has no equal in the area. Perhaps the next and toughest would be Blackhorse (South) in Northwest Houston and Saddleridge in Grand Prairie. Blackhorse suffers from being too pricey and they know it. Saddleridge suffers from being remote and bent grass greens that are difficult to maintain when jerks don't repair their ball marks. |

Unfair course, especially in summer. The winds can reach 20 mph with gusts reaching 30. It seems all long holes are dead into the wind, and those that are not seem to have such a sloping fairway you have to be a surgeon with your club. I am playing the course tomorrow to0 and will try to play smart, but I can guaranty you number three will pose a problem with a big Oak tree 20 yards in front of the green. Driver, 3 Wood, Chain saw, on in three. This couse is dick, and will challenge the best golfer. To prove my point, ask the Pro there what the best score shot in a tourney. Then ask him what the averge score was. |

Very disappointed in the course's layout (although it is pretty to look at)- their seems to be no flat surfaces even if you hit it straight down the middle - you can still expect and uneven lie. There should be some reward in hitting it straight down the middle - instead it is just as challanging as if you landed in the brush. A rediculous amount of humps through out the middle of the fairway. Plays more like a crazy put-put course. Was not impressed. Due to the difficulty of the course - (groups of ahead of us constantly losing their balls) everyone was backed up and after finding myself waiting at the tee for 5-10 min. before I could tee off (each hole) I called it quits after 7 holes (which took 2 hours to get through). I just found it too frustraiting waiting so long between holes to play the next. (Played on a Friday at 12:20 pm tee time). I have played over 40+ courses and this is the only one that has made me want to quit before 18 holes. I would not choose to go back to this course. Customer Service Staff was friendly and helpful. |

Great golf course! Fairways are tight. Several holes are very "tricky". My longer-hitting friends (the "go-for-its" as I call them) often get in trouble here. One needs to play the 5's as true 3-in-reg holes (make the 3rd count). The 4's are rather long (from the golds) and the landing areas tricky to negotiate. The greens are mid-large and fast, but true. I don't mind fast greens at all. Reads are straightforward and the ball doesn't deviate or deflect from the intended line. It's never crowded (even at noon on a Saturday you'll never get pressed or held up). You can also find a ton of balls if you look for a few moments. This course demands you play "smart" and "long". For the mid-handicapper, you could easily shoot in the high 90's if you're always going for it. But, you can easily shoot in the low 80's or even high 70's if you play conservatively. I consider this my favorite course in and around Austin...especially given the price. Customer Service VERY friendly. Very accomodating. They have only a small pro-shop and only a small grill. I'd recommend eating prior to arriving at the course. Similar Products Used: Legacy Hills, WhiteWing, CircleC, Falconhead, Kizer, Bluebonnet, Avery Ranch, Teravista |

Found this course from recent Golf Digest issue, as it was named #10 on the “new-affordable courses you can play.” It turned our to be one of the toughest courses I’ve ever played! The greens were lightning fast, very easy to 3 or 4 putt if not careful. The par 3s had very small greens, at least front to back. If your ball finds the rough or water hazards, don’t even bother looking for it. The rough was tall and thick. The water was murky, even a foot from shore you couldn’t see anything. The fairways are very tight, and even if you land in the fairway, you may be in one of the many fairway bunkers or on a mound with uneven lie. One guy in our group is a 12 hndcp, and he shot a 92, another shot 140 (and he’s usually in the mid-90s). The staff was friendly, and pace was very good. We finished in 4.5 hrs and were never really pushed by the group behind us. Cute cart girls, but biggest drawback—no grill! www.shadowglengolf.com Customer Service average |
