Golfsmith Tour Cavity Pro

Summary:
To date my favorite set of clubs. I built these with stiff shaft graphite (2.5 torque) . I am an acurate Iron player whose #1 requirement is feel and consistant ball flight. These clubs given me the feel and consistancy like no other club.
The bottom line is this is the first set i have owned that no matter how much money someone gave me to replace them I wouldn't. Oh yeah, i built the whole set (3-PW + W) for $250.

Golfsmith tour cavity irons

Summary:
I've tried a number of irons and these are by far the best I've used. Assembled them myself using fenwick world-class flighted graphite shafts. I've owned Ping ISIs and TaylorMades, but these are straighter, longer, and just look good at address.

Customer Service:
Golfsmith is always very helpful.

GOLFSMITH TOUR CAVITY 2006

Summary:
I have now used these irons 3 thru gap for 6 rounds of golf on a par 72 golf course and 75 has been the highest score. I always struggled with a little too much fade but these irons having a 1.5 upright lie have minimized my fade. I put in the new black gold true temper shafts stiff flex. I love these irons, I have had high handicap golfers try them and they were able to hit them quite well.

Tour Cavity

Summary:
This February I got some 2005 Golf Smith Tour Cavity irons w/TT TX-Tour stiff steel shafts and Winn AVS grips ($280). They play well for my style. I come down hard on the ball and prefer a thinner sole. I have a slight draw and like to work the ball. These clubs just do what I expect them to, NO miracles.

If you prefer a cavity/blade style iron and are a mid to low handicapper you may want to demo some of these. One weak point, common on most clubs of this style, they are soft. The faces are beginning to wear. The cavity is textured and can ding.

Irons I also like include Titleist forged irons, Mizuno’s line, TaylorMade styles and Ben Hogan. Maltby(Golfworks.com) is another option for some custom fitters.

I give these irons a 5 because in my opinion they hit like I expect them to and a 5 for value.

GolfSmith Tour Cavity 2005 with Harrison lite steel shaft in stiff flex and Golfpride tour velvet

Summary:
This is the new designed 2005 tour cavity irons from GolfSmith. I had planned on buying the Mizuno MX23, but I read good reviews on the Tour Cavity. The specifications of the irons are similar to the MX23. The heads are cast, but the steel is the soft 304 type.

I was immediately impressed with the overall look of these irons, but playing with them impressed more. The feel is solid, and working the ball with my normal draw was no problem. The clubs gave the sweet feeling of swinging themselves.

As the PW is a strong 46 degrees, I have ordered a gap wedge bent to 51 degrees.

GolfSmith rates these as Mid launch, Moderate forgiveness and Moderate Workability. I would say this is true and I would recommend them to Mid and low handicappers. In my opinion, value is outstanding.

Customer Service:
I was custom fit from thegolfshed.com The service was superb. There was no hassle to ask for the bend of the wedge to 51 degrees
