Heavy Putter Deep Face Series

Summary:
Background: Until I got the Heavy Putter, I was the worst putter in my foresome. Maddening because we only bet on putting. (Our bet is based on one putts, three putts, and chip ins.) I’ve tried many putters, short ones, long ones, blades, mallets, two ball, bullseye, but always got the same crummy result. I KNOW it is me. I’ve bought videos and books and nothing worked. For example, the last round (before the DF-D3) I had 7 (seven) three putts and very few one putts. I searched the web for another putter, and came across the DF-D3 and thought, “The Heavy Putter concept is unique. Try it, because if you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep on getting the same results.”
1. First week: I missed our usual golf day, so, on Friday, I went to a course as a single and played, without putting practice, except for 5 minutes before the round. The DF-D3 didn’t feel really good, but after the round I noticed I had one three putt and thought, “that is better than what I’ve been experiencing.”
2. Second week: I practiced with it for about an hour. My next round, on moderately fast greens, I had 28 putts, 8 two putts, 9 one putts, and a 3 putt, which I believe is the best I’ve ever putted. I really don’t know what I average, but before DF-D3, I guess I'm usually around 36 because of all the three putting and short putts I miss. The DF-D3 was magical. Like, I'm pretty sure I didn't yip one. I won money from two guys and paid a paltry $0.50 to the guy I didn’t beat who had to putt lights out to beat me.
3. Third week: The course we played has big, fast, undulating greens. The other guys were three putting and I wasn’t except for a very long distance first putt on #18, where I barely missed the 4’ comeback due to a read mistake. I canned two nice ones, 15’-18’, and made the short putts and made more money than I ever had in the 8 years I’ve been playing with these guys (newly hatched pigeons.)
Two days later: I put in another 30 minutes with it at the local practice facility. Then, on a course with moderate speed greens, I was completely dialed in. 28 putts, no three putts.
It just works a lot better than anything I’ve ever used. Feel and direction on long putts is great. The short ones just go in, one after another. Now when I miss a short putt, it is due to the read, not a poorly aimed putter face.

Downsides: I’d say all the way into last (3rd) week sometime, it really didn’t feel good. It didn’t have that nice balanced swing of a Cameron or a sweet feeling strike. At the pro shop, I can imagine people trying it and then saying, “Ugh. How do people use this horrible feeling thing?” And, then they put it back. Mistake. Now, after three weeks, it actually feels great and I know more what to expect and how to use it.
Or you may say, “Wow, I have never seen anything quite this ugly,” and get something else. Really, on the practice green, a guy came up to me and sincerely (I think) asked, “Did you make that?” Well, as bad as I was, I can get beyond the insults.

Summary:
At first I was hesitant to purchase this putter because I thought distance control would be an issue, but I was wrong. The balance is fantastic and the deep face makes solid contact easy. And from 10 feet and in the club is automatic. It doesn't take long to get used to the weight. Because a lot of the weight is in the handle to keep the hands and wrists quiet, I pretty much swing the club with the same force I would with a conventionally weighted putter. The head weight is only about 100 grams heavier but yet the total club weight is about double that of a conventional putter. That means a lot of the weight is added to other areas, which results in wonderful balance. And I have used conventional putters with heavier head weights with very inconsistent results. Distance control was a real problem. All of my misses from driver to putter are pulls. So the extra weight in this putter is just what I need to keep everything quiet and smooth. I took the club to the practice green for about 30 minutes and took it to the course the next day for the first time and had 3 one-putts, which is unheard of for me. The club may not be for everyone, and there is a midweight model available, but I would definitely try it before eliminating it from consideration. I've used some very good conventionally weighted putters (see below), but nothing with the consistency of the Heavy Putter. It has a more muted feel, but because of the weight, you can hit it anywhere on the face and get very predictable results.

Summary:
Wow!!! This putter absolutely rocks. I have a bad case of inconsistent pendulum and this thing totally solves that problem. the majority of my putts are true strokes now and it is now down to picking the right line rathter than worrying about having a good pendulum.

This specific model gives you a great feel and sound as well. I wanted a blade type putter and this one serves that purpose very well. I bought it on ebay for $35 and all my buddies are now looking to buy one.

My only regret is that they have such an ugly and cheap plastic putter cover. Yikes. WTF were they thinking?

Heavy Putter Stealth design

Summary:
OK - so I bought one - the Stealth model. Got it new, via EBAY for £36

First putt I canned a 33 foot putt for par - 2 putts second and third hole; 4th hole a 7 foot putt for birdie after an average chip; left a 25 ft uphill putt on the lip next hole.

So in the end, I played 27 holes today with the new putter - canned every putt under 9 foot (3 paces) and lagged close on the long ones.

I have to say i am a little surprised the comments on the long putts - out greens are fast and firm, but the Heavy Putter had a lot of feel IMO> I think it may also be this model's design. The Stealth model has a very thin face with weights in the corners - maybe the thin face gives a better feel of distance. Over the ball this model really looks the part and the 'V' behind the ball is a superb aiming alignment tool.

I have always been a decent putter, but my 3 foot putts are my achilles heel as i tend to collapse my wrists and steer to the left (pull) - this heavy putter appears to me that it will be impossible to pull a putt as the wrists seem to remain firm.

Interestingly, I spoke with a Member who has had one for 6 weeks. He had a bad case of Yips and he says the HP has turned him into a Putting machine (his words, not mine).

Early days, but this technology seems to have some thing in it.
