This is close to the perfect driver. 400 is the perfect size. This is long and workable but most of all it does what you tell it - feedback is the key for this driver. Face is neutral and head sets up like a classic. Interesting to note the trend back to smaller head sizes as this is about perfect. Hit it well and it feels a million bucks. Average shots end up average - as it should be. I've tried plenty of the newer clubs and keep coming back to this well balanced performer. Catch it flush and there is no better feeling. These are now cheap as chips on ebay. I've bought 2 backups and will be playing these for years.

I just purchased this driver (10.5 deg + Exsar Stiff) 2nd hand from a friend that can't play golf as he used to. Before purchasing it I tried it in the Range and was amazed on how little dispersion and long the balls went. I've played twice with it in my course and after a few minor changes (mainly ball positioning in my stance) I can hit 85 to 90% of the fairways and a veeeery looooong way (I recon an avg of 260~270 meters). My personal Driving record now sits at 320 Meters -achieved yesterday with this driver-. Even the mis-hits (toe or heel) result in fairly decent trajectories and distances. Despite a second hand club, it is probably one of the best purchases in golf equipment. I've always been a fan of Mizuno (specially the irons which are superb!) and once again this product has not let me down.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP 001 (400 cc) 10 degree

The 10 degree Mizuno MP-001 might be the club that replaces my 9 degree Cobra SS 380.

Feel for a composite head is very good, distance is a little better than with the Cobra because of a flatter trajectory. Accuracy is excellent (the face is square as opposed to the Cobra, which is 2.5 degrees closed). The look of the club at address is great (just the right proportions). Sound of a well-struck shot with the Mizuno is nice and not as ear-shattering as the Cobra.

FYI, I have the Grafalloy Prolite 45 in the Mizuno and the YS-6 in the Cobra.

Got this club on Ebay as Mizuno doesn't make the 001 anymore.

I've yet to find a 460 cc driver that I like as much as heads in the 400 cc range.

I have three of these clubs. These clubs are very straight and long. I have tried them all, and this one seems to be more consistent.

I get outdriven, but my drives are in the fairway 80% of the time - the other 20% are usually not too far off.

This club gets great distance, but I swing it veeerrry slow. People can't believe how far the ball goes with a slow swing.

I highly recommend this club.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP-001 400cc 9deg w/ Aldila NV Stiff

I've been waiting to finally settle on a Driver before posting.
This is my Second MP-001 driver.
Started playing golf 2yrs ago and had Callaway Big Bertha as hand-me-down.
Then decided for a change, bought a Titleist 983K 8.5 w/ stock Speeder. This is the club that I honed driver swing. Tough club to learn with, but well worth it now.
Long story short, I went thru 9 drivers in the past 2yrs.
All great drivers.
983K 8.5, 983K 9.5, 905T 9.5 YS-6+, Mizuno MP-001 9 Graf Blue Stiff, Cleveland Launcher 460 9.5 ProForce Gold, MacTec NVG1 and 2, Callaway ERC Fusion, and now back to the Mizuno MP-001.

The MP-001 head and NV stiff shaft combo is where it's at. Alike previous posts, MP-001's trajectory isn't high. In fact, I'm considering purchasing a 10deg.
But the roll is great. I'm carrying normally 240 to 245. But count the roll, I'm out approx 260 to 270.

Great workability (although, to draw w/ this driver is a challenge).
Fade is very do-able. And Hook and Slice... they'll always be there from time to time.

After 9 drivers, I came back to this one. I've been missing this driver while I was coveting other drivers. Now that I'm back, I'm not letting go of this one 'til it breaks.
